46 Saw horse US13119058 2009-09-11 US08528754B2 2013-09-10 Zbigniew Noniewicz; Hans-Jürgen Schüller
The patent application relates to a saw horse having at least two stand elements, each stand element (1) having a base (4) and two vertical braces (2) which in each case leave an interspace (5) between one another for accommodating wood (21) to be sawed or the like, and which project upwardly from the base (4). One vertical brace (2) of one stand element (1) is connected to a vertical brace (2) of the other stand element (1) via a connecting element (6) in such a way that the interspaces (5) of the two stand elements (1) are aligned with one another in an operating position in which the connecting elements (6) extend parallel to one another. In order to achieve a refinement that is advantageous for use, it is proposed that the connecting elements (6) are pivotably secured to the vertical braces (2) so that the saw horse may be folded up in a parallelogram-like manner from its operating position, in which the connecting elements (6) are spaced at a maximum distance from one another, into a storage position in which the connecting elements (6) are spaced at a minimum distance from one another.

Clamping apparatus for holding a workpiece such as a log comprises a cruciform support frame of legs the upper limbs of which define upwardly open V-shape volumes for receiving a log. Arcuately clamped arms are pivotally connected to respective legs and spring biased to a closure position by springs joined by chains to a rigid connector link pivoted to the clamp arm by a pivot projecting onto the opposite side of the clamp arm from the pivotal connection by which it is connected to the leg frame allowing it to be moved to an over-center cocked position in which a curved tail portion projects into the V-shape volume to act as a trigger initiating closure of the clamp arm with the log is placed in position. In other embodiments a flat working surface replaces the diverging support arms.
50 Portable sawbuck US303304 1989-01-30 US4913425A 1990-04-03 Gerald R. Anderson
A portable sawbuck is disclosed that uses three plates to form both a clamp and a vice. The center plate acts a both a clamp plate and a vice plate. The clamp portion can be attached to trees or any other vertical wood post. Four carriage bolts secure the clamp to the tree or post. The vice extends from the opposite side of the clamp and consists of a yoke and the third plate, which rides on the yoke. A threaded rod, which is welded to the third plate and crank are used to operate the vice. Logs are placed in the vice and are rested on the yoke as the vice is tightened. Once secure, the log can be cut on either end, working toward the sawbuck. Logs can be cut to within inches of the sawbuck. A series of spikes are welded or otherwise attached to the plates to further secure the logs to the vice and the clamp to the tree or post. The spikes also reduce the turning moment placed on the sawbuck as logs are cut. The vice portion can also be used without the clamp by clamping the yoke to sawhorses using " U" clamps. The device is intended to be made in kit form for easy shipping and can be readily disassembled for storage.
51 Apparatus and method for sawing limbs and the like US815387 1985-12-31 US4667714A 1987-05-26 Morris N. Knutsen
A plurality of limbs or the like are secured together, to form a limb bundle (B). The limbs are positioned in a space defined laterally between a pair of posts (20, 24) on one side of a frame (12) and a second pair of posts (22, 26) on the opposite side of the frame (12). A windless (44) is supported at the upper ends of the posts (20, 24). A cable (54) extends from the windless (44) either downwardly and around the girth of the limb bundle (B), and then hooks on itself, to form a noose around the limb bundle (B), or it extends from the windless (44) down to and around a pulley (76), then upwardly and over a mid portion of the limb bundle (B'), and then down to a dead end connection (70) at a lower portion of the frame (12). In either case, tightening of the cable (54, 54') imposes a squeezing force on the limb bundle (B).

53 Sawbuck with juxtaposed plates journalled on an axle US274407 1981-06-17 US4386677A 1983-06-07 Walter W. Gulezian
A rigid sawbuck assembly to be supported by four lengths of lumber such as 2.times.4's which form foldable "X" shaped legs. An elongated axially extending cross bar axle extends between two pairs of juxtaposed metal plates, a pair of which are at each opposite end thereof, journalled on said pipe for rotation. The plates are attached to the lengths of lumber and include lugs on the inner plates of each pair extending from the side edge into the path of rotation of the side edge of the outer plate of each pair to serve as a stop. A cross brace is attached between the lower portions of the innermost legs so that said sawbuck is rigid, foldable, compact and can be stored. Because of the flat plate structure, 2.times.6's or other sizes of lumber may be used for the legs.

The top member includes means for restraining the handle and body of the chain saw and positioning the saw to permit access to the top of said bar and chain. Finally, remote control means are attached to the trigger of the saw and have an activator positioned remote from the saw and the top member for activation of the saw triggered by pressure applied to the activator. A preferred pedal-type activator is disclosed which can be operated either by pressure from the operator's knee or from the operator' s foot, depending upon the position of the activator.
55 Chain saw stand US213383 1980-12-05 US4342243A 1982-08-03 Kendall Porritt
A chain saw stand with means to anchor a chain saw on a top surface thereof with the chain saw blade extending in front of the stand. A pair of pivotally mounted levers are provided which are connected by resilient connecting means. The top lever is disposed generally parallel with and slightly above the chain saw blade and is actuated by the log to be cut by the chain saw. Upon pressure from the log on the top lever, a second lever is pivoted to actuate the chain saw throttle trigger. The resilient connection between the levers permits the lever actuated by the log to continue pivoting until the cutting operation is complete.

A saw blade is extended around, and guided by, the guide plate, and is protected by guard means pivotally mounted on the mounting plate. A cradle frame structure releasably receives and clamps the mounting plate in a table sawing position when the chain saw is to be so used. A cradle frame pedestal pivotally supports the cradle frame structure for pivotation about a horizontal axis. A pivotally supported turntable is positioned beneath and supports the pedestal, with the turntable and associated pedestal being pivotable about a vertical axis. A workpiece-supporting table is positioned adjacent the cradle frame structure, pedestal and turntable, and has a substantially horizontal working surface located below the guide plate of the chain saw.
