1 Log handling and sawing system US728581 1985-04-29 US4665786A 1987-05-19 Dean W. Shields
A sawmill in which a multi-log supporting mechanism is constructed wherein logs are grasped at spaced angular positions about the mechanism and rotated by it between an initial receiving position to a profile measurement position and then to a sawing position. The end-to-end axis of the supporting mechanism is adjustably oriented with respect to a saw in terms of profile measurements and size of lumber determined to be cut from a log. Directionally, this adjustment is made normal to the profile measurement dimension.

5 Portable bandsaw mill US09933529 2001-08-20 US20020069738A1 2002-06-13 Martin Gagne
A portable bandsaw mill for sawing logs which has an elevated horizontal rail extending between first and second end frames, a carriage component mounted on the rail and means slidably movable therealong, a drive motor and a saw blade assembly mounted on opposite sides of the horizontally extending rail to substantially counterbalance each other, and a log support extending between the first and second end frames, the log support being inclined. The above arrangement permits a very light compact sawmill which may be easily transported and set up at different sites.
6 Pivoting carriage and saw US762543 1991-09-17 US5243888A 1993-09-14 William P. Bowlin
A pivoting carriage and saw which is characterized in a preferred embodiment by a carriage capable of receiving curved logs and pivotally mounted on a linear-operated trolley for engaging the logs with a pivoting band saw and cutting a selected non-linear path through the curved logs. In a most preferred embodiment the band saw is pivotally mounted adjacent to the trolley carriage and log and a computerized control system is coupled to fluid-operated cylinders mounted on log-adjusting knees on the carriage and on other fluid-operated cylinders provided on the carriage itself and on the band saw and used to select and control desired cutting paths through the logs.
7 Band sawmill US516057 1983-07-21 US4519283A 1985-05-28 Dale Sanborn
A sawmill utilizing a bandsaw which is movable back and forth in the operation of cutting planks from a log that is cradled in a horizontal position. The cradle and the bandsaw are so arranged that the cutting portion of the saw is inclined at an angle to the vertical and so that the cutting plane is inclined at the same angle. The bandsaw is carried on a sub-frame which reciprocates longitudinally of a main frame of the mill. The main frame is preferably mounted upon wheels so that the mill is portable and can be taken from one forestry location to another.
8 Arrangement for inserting blocks of timber in a timber processing machine US275904 1981-06-22 US4440203A 1984-04-03 Sven E. Ostberg
An arrangement for feeding blocks of timber into a cutting machine has a stationary rear pair of lateral guide rollers immediately in front of the saw blades, a laterally displaceable front pair of lateral guide rollers and a middle lateral guide device, which may be a pair of lateral guide rollers. The middle lateral guide device is at half the distance between the front and the rear pair of lateral guide rollers. The front pair of lateral guide rollers is arranged on a support arm which can swing on a swivel point which is in front of the rear pair of lateral guide rollers at a distance of six tenths of a distance between the front and rear pair of lateral guide rollers. The arrangement is suitable for curved sawing both in sawing machines and in reducing and reducing sawing machines.
9 Chipping and sawing machine US3692074D 1970-03-03 US3692074A 1972-09-19 NILSSON PHILIP
In a chipping and sawing machine a log is first passed through a chipping machine in which two opposite sides of the log are provided with planar parallel surfaces. As the log passes from the chipping machine at least one board is cut from each of the opposite sides by sawing members. The chipping machine consists of a pair of spaced chipping discs in the form of truncated cones with the small ends of the cones facing each other. As the log passes the chipping machine, it is directed on each side by guides into the path of the sawing members which are positioned adjacent the chipping machine so that the log contacts the sawing members while it is still guided between the discs of the chipping machine.
