241 Indexable Pry Tool and Splined Coupling Arrangement Therefor US12117067 2008-05-08 US20080282845A1 2008-11-20 Rafal P. Stawarski
An indexable tool includes a handle having a first prong formed with a first splined orifice and a second prong formed with a second splined orifice. An indexable body has a third splined orifice aligned with the first and second splined orifices. A splined coupling arrangement rotatably joins and selectively locks and unlocks the handle and the indexable body together. The coupling arrangement includes a push button, first and second adjacently disposed inserts, a retainer, a cap and a spring. In a locked position, the spring is biased to hold external splines of the first and second serrated inserts in common engagement with the first, second and third splined orifices to prevent relative rotation between the indexable body and the handle. In an unlocked position, the push button is pushed against the bias of the spring to move external splines of the first serrated insert into exclusive engagement with the third splined orifice of the indexable body, and to move the external splines of the second serrated insert into engagement with the splined orifice of the second prong enabling rotary adjustment of the indexable body relative to the handle and about the cylinder.
242 Impact tools with slidable grip US11999724 2007-12-05 US20080168629A1 2008-07-17 Shane M. Touchette
Tools and methods of making tools that are swung toward a work-piece are more accurate and/or safer to use because of a moveable grip provided on the tool handle. The tool handle slides through the moveable grip, with minimal or no rotation or shifting relative to the grip. The movable grip eliminates the need for the forward hand of the user to loosen its grip during portions or all of the swing, eliminates the need for the hand itself to slide along the surface of the handle, and, importantly, greatly reduces or eliminates the chance that the tool and the impact head of the tool hand will rotate or shift relative to user's hand(s). The moveable grip and handle are preferably rigid and hard and mated in shape and size so that rotation and shifting is reduced or eliminated. The preferred embodiment includes one or more control members for retaining or latching the moveable grip in one or more desired locations on the handle, so that the moveable grip may be prevented from sliding along the handle until the user desires it to slide.

245 Connector structure for a pivotable head US10877247 2004-06-25 US07343638B2 2008-03-18 Michael Mitchell; German R. Gonzalez
The structure of the present invention provides pivotable coupling of a head to a handle. The head may assume various pitch angles relative to the handle. Once place at a particular pitch angle the head is releasably fixed-in-place and opposes pitching of the head relative to the handle to assume a new pitch angle. With the application of sufficient force on the head, the head is released from the fixed-in-place pitch angle and a new pitch angle is achieved.

254 Manual tongs US10473507 2002-02-26 US07140278B2 2006-11-28 Rainer Neumann; Thomas Böker; Rolf Nuyken
A pair of manual tongs comprising two limbs which are rotatably connected in a common first rotational axis. The first limb is separated into two levers in its lever section, the two levers being rotatably connected in a first articulation, in a second rotational axis parallel to the common first rotational axis. A means of traction connects the second limb to the lever of the first limb, which is situated at a distance from the handle. The means of traction can be shortened by means of a pivotal movement of the lever of the first limb, which is situated close to the handle, above the second rotational axis. The areas of use of the manual tongs are often difficult to access. According to the invention, the second limb of the inventive manual tongs is thus separated into a lever situated at a distance from the handle and a lever situated close to the handle and the two levers are rotatably connected in a second articulation, in a third rotational axis which is parallel to the common first rotational axis.

260 Spring-biased pivoting squeegee US10439852 2003-05-15 US06931690B2 2005-08-23 Grant Cox
A spring-biased pivoting squeegee 10 provides a head 12 pivotally attached to a handle 16. The head 12 is movable between a rest position, in which the head 12 is angularly displaced from the handle 16, and a biased position in which the head 12, handle 16, and wiping blade 14 are in linear relation. In the biased position, the wiping blade is maintained at an optimum angle for cleaning a glass surface even with the handle 16 held generally perpendicular to the glass. A spring 60 is fully contained in the head 12 and biases the head toward the rest position. A tension adjustment knob 80 in the head 12 permits adjustment of the spring 60 to a tension level according to the ergonomic requirements of a user.
