PURPOSE:To shorten idle time and improve the efficiency of working by sequentially performing a series of the respective necessary broaching operations with a single drive source during one revolution of a fly wheel. CONSTITUTION:During one revolution of a fly wheel are sequentially carried out the putting-in-and-out, location, clamping, broaching, unclamping and delivery of the work. The cutting is carried out at the position b in the right movement of a ram 7, and when the ram 7 reaches the position a and moves leftward, the work is put in the location b by a transfer unit 6 while the work 3 unclamped in the position b is discharged to the work discharging position c. Thus, idle time is substantially shortened.
5 Broach cutting method JP22822182 1982-12-27 JPS59118311A 1984-07-09 KAWAI KOUICHI
PURPOSE:To make it possible to cut and finish a material by one step in a short time by a method wherein the material is processed to have a finished plane surface on one side surface thereof in a condition in which the deformation of the top end of the material due to a component force of cutting generating at the time of finishing the above-mentioned one side surface of the material. CONSTITUTION:A broach holder 15 is provided with a pair of right and left cutting lanes 16 and 16' for guiding the top end 3(4) of a steering knuckle as the material to be cut. Next, roughly processed surface 23(24) and sacrificial processed surface 11(12) are formed on one side surface and the other side surface, respectively, of the base section of the steering knuckle by progressive broaches 17a-17d and 18a-18d in a condition in which the top end 3(4) of the steering knuckle is rightly positioned. Further, the broaches 18a-18d are brought into contact with the sacrificial processed surface 23(24) so as to prevent the top end of the steering knuckle from bending at the time of surface broach processing. Thus it is possible to cut and finish the steering knuckle as the material by one step in a short time.

15 Repetitive rotary broaching US15082200 2016-03-28 US10029321B1 2018-07-24 Brian E. McCarthy
A broaching tool is held during the conduct of repetitive duplicate rotary broaching operations on serially presented workpieces. The broaching tool is engaged serially with each workpiece for rotation with the engaged workpiece during a corresponding rotary broaching operation. Each workpiece has a given configuration and the broaching tool has a prescribed configuration placed at an initial orientation for establishing a broached configuration placed at a same predetermined orientation relative to the given configuration of each workpiece. Upon completion of a rotary broaching operation on a workpiece, the broaching tool is returned to the initial orientation of the prescribed configuration in preparation for a duplicate rotary broaching operation on a subsequent serially presented workpiece.

A plurality of cutting edges that are arranged on an outer circumference of a shaft-shaped broach body are provided with a spline teeth group, which contains a plurality of spline teeth 8 that groove a prepared hole of a work material, and a round teeth group, which is disposed in a different position from the spline teeth group along an axis direction and contains a plurality of round teeth that machine an inner circumference of the prepared hole. At least one gullet is formed to extend along the outer circumference of the broach body in a circumferential direction around the axis between the round teeth that are adjacent to one another in the axis direction in the round teeth group. The gullet extends toward the axis direction, gradually twisting toward the circumferential direction. The spline teeth group and the round teeth group are formed integrally on the outer circumference of the broach body.

A method of forming a drive surface on an eccentric pin of a drive shaft for a scroll-type compressor is provided. First, an eccentric pin having an axis and a generally cylindrical outer surface disposed radially about the axis is provided. Next, a broaching tool having a machining face with a contour is provided. The contour may be a concave shallow bell-shaped curve. Finally, the drive surface is formed by engaging the outer surface with the machining face transverse to the axis. In this manner, the machining face forms a shape complementary to the contour on the eccentric pin thereby forming a slight crown on the drive surface. The broaching tool produces an adequate surface finish so that no subsequent machining operations to the drive surface are necessary.
18 Progressive blind spline broach machine and method US244010 1988-09-14 US4917551A 1990-04-17 Robert E. Roseliep
A method and apparatus for progressive machining of blind spline workpieces which includes step-by-step moving of work holding stations on an indexing table with loading and unloading stations located adjacent the table between work stations. Axially in line with the work stations between indexes are multiple tool rams hydraulically powered to drive a broaching tool over or into workpieces to achieve progressive broaching as the work is indexed. The rams can be simultaneously activated or sequentially activated depending on the capacity of the hydraulic system.
19 Broaching machine US340883 1982-01-19 US4531868A 1985-07-30 Leonard A. Gabriele
A high production surface broaching machine, in which a plurality of parts are located and clamped simultaneously in broaching position, broached, and simultaneously unclamped and discharged into an outchute. The plurality of parts are moved horizontally into position below the broaching position, and are then raised into accurately located broaching position against horizontal locating and ejection bar means. After broaching, the bar means pushes the broached parts down into laterally open recesses in an elongated bar, which is then moved longitudinally relative to a cam which guides the parts out of the recesses into an outchute.
20 Apparatus for removing material from a workpiece US3592103D 1969-06-11 US3592103A 1971-07-13 BROWN WILLIAM B
In order to remove flash from a weld of butt-welded sections of rod, four eccentrically mounted cutting wheels are positioned around the periphery of the rod adjacent to the weld. Each wheel has a plurality of cutting blades attached thereto which have paths of movement that overlap the paths of movement of other blades positioned on adjacent wheels when the blades are in cutting engagement with the flash. Each wheel is relieved along a chord thereof to form a straight section for initially accommodating the welded sections of rod before the milling operation is commenced. The eccentric mounting arrangement results in progressively deeper milling of the flash as the wheels are rotated.
