41 SYSTEM AND METHODS FOR FORMING BARBED TAPE PRODUCT US11778846 2007-07-17 US20080042002A1 2008-02-21 Michael Pavlov
A system and method for producing a barbed taped product is controlled by an electronic controller to provide a predetermined pattern of attachment points. The system automatically clips adjacent loops of product strands together in the predetermined pattern. The system is capable of varying the pattern from roll to roll, within a given roll, and between rolls. The system and method eliminates the need for ceasing production between rolls in order to re-thread.
42 Barbed tape US09642162 2000-08-18 US06601830B1 2003-08-05 Michael V. Pavlov
A barrier structure includes a continuous piece of elongated metal tape. The metal tape includes barbs spaced along an elongate body. Each of the barbs is connected securely to a barb root, and each barb root is connected securely to the elongate body. A first region of the elongate body is adjacent to each barb root, and a second region of the elongate body is adjacent to each first region distal from the barb root. A third region of the elongate body adjacent to each second region distal from the first region extends lengthwise from each second region and meets a corresponding third region that is extending lengthwise away from another second region. Each second region extends transversely and inwardly from the adjacent first region and the adjacent third region.
43 Barbed tape barrier US79584 1987-07-30 US4844422A 1989-07-04 Robert W. Major
A barbed tape is disclosed incorporating an improved barb configuration. A flat metal tape is formed having opposed barbed pairs that extend from a central portion at an angle to thus point the tips of the respective barbs away from the longitudinal axis of the tape. The central strip of the tape is clenched about a central core wire; intermediate barbs are provided to increase the effectiveness of the barrier while providing a means for positively positioning clips that are used to secure adjacent coils of the tape together.
44 Defensive personnel barrier US129274 1980-03-10 US4328955A 1982-05-11 Albert L. Hermans
A defensive personnel barrier and method for fabrication thereof includes an elongated metal strip having a longitudinally extending bend therein to form a spine extending therealong with laterally opposed flanges extending obliquely from the spine. Each flange is stamped or die cut to provide a plurality of cuts spaced therealong and extending diagonally from the spine to the outer edge of the flange. The diagonally cut portions are bent upwardly from the plane of the flange to form a plurality of barbs spaced longitudinally in the metal strip. The barbs of the opposed flanges are staggered longitudinally, and the edges of the barbs are sufficiently sharp to discourage manual grasping of the strip. One or more strips may be secured atop a fence or similar barrier to discourage climbing thereon. The barrier strips may also be secured to existing linear barbed wire strands by means of a saddle block and J bracket assembly provided by the invention.
45 Barbed wire US87562 1979-10-23 US4317955A 1982-03-02 Oh Y. Choi
A barbed wire construction. The construction includes an iron wire having a longitudinally extending groove therein. A copper wire, coated with insulation, is inserted into the groove and extends along the groove. The iron and copper wires are coated.
46 Apparatus and method for forming barbed tape US048072 1979-06-13 USRE30814E 1981-12-08 Michael R. Mainiero
A machine having blanking, barb forming and bending stations is provided for making a coil of metal tape from a substantially planar linear strip of metal stock wherein such strip is fed in sequence to the stations in a single pass through the machine to respectively edge notch the strip into barbs, upset the barbs into inclined relation to the plane of the strip and then edge bend the strip in the plane of the strip to form it into identically angularly displaced adjoining linear segments of equal length to make a generally annular coil of barbed metal tape. The method of this invention features forming spaced openings along a longitudinal axis of a substantially planar linear strip of metal stock, positioning the strip by means of its openings and edge bending the strip in the plane of the strip adjacent its openings to form the strip into a coil having identical angularly displaced adjoining linear segments.
47 Barbed metal tape US679155 1976-04-22 US4040603A 1977-08-09 Michael R. Mainiero
Coiled tape having successive linear segments each of equal length and uniformly angularly offset in the plane of the tape at identical bend angles relative to its trailing segment about a bend forming opening of predetermined size and shape.
48 Process for making barbed material US549680 1975-02-13 US3941164A 1976-03-02 Daniel D. Musgrave
A process for making barbed material without scrap loss. The first step in manufacture is slitting the edge of the material to form points. The points are then bent to an exposed position by tractive magnetic means. As an additional step the pointed portions can be further displaced away from the edge by elongating or twisting the material.
49 Barbed wire machine US48638974 1974-07-08 US3921680A 1975-11-25 DONCHE-GAY PIERRE
A single strand barbed wire machine has a pair of continuously driven wire forming rollers which flatten the main strand along its entire length except for pairs of closely spaced unflattened portions between which barbs are wound. A box like frame has a motor driven central main shaft on which is mounted a cam and transmission means which drives the wire forming roller shafts mounted at one end of the frame and a friction coupled takeup reel mounted at the other end. A cam driven arm is pivotally mounted to have a follower riding on the cam and to have a vertical upstanding portion. Two upstanding arms within the frame have their tops connected by a horizontal bar, a mid-portion of the bar being connected to the upper end of the cam drive arm. An endmost of the upstanding arms is spring biased to hold the cam follower against the cam. Exterior upstanding arms outside the frame and on common shafts with the interior upstanding arms have wire pulleys at their upper ends so that the main strand is fed outward about one pulley and over the other pulley to be withdrawn inward therefrom while the pulleys oscillate at a rate to provide intermittent motion of the wire therebetween. A barb winding assembly disposed between the pulleys is driven by and thus synchronized to the central main shaft to wind barbs on the main strand while it is at rest.
