42 A SAFETY BARRIER SYSTEM EP97926098.0 1997-06-12 EP0848633A1 1998-06-24 McDonough, Derek; McDonough, Kevin; McDonough, Brian; Dalling, Beryl Jeanette
A safety barrier system for a horse race track comprising a barrier (10), preferably of a fabric material; and extending between end positions. The barrier has at least one position of weakness whereby, in use, the barrier is adapted to break at least at one of said positions of weakness forming at least one part (usually two parts). Conveniently the position of weakness comprises a releasable connection (such as a hook and loop type material) connecting the parts of the barrier material. The barrier system further comprises retraction means (42), conveniently employing resilience, to draw at least said one part towards a retracted position when the barrier breaks for example under a force applied to it by a horse. Advantageously, the ends of the barrier are connected to a trolley (40) for movement along a track (38) to permit movement of the barrier.
43 EP0580828A4 - EP93901976 1993-01-20 EP0580828A4 1994-02-16 ALEXANDROVICS, PETER, JOHN
A device and a method for monitoring a plane in space over an interval of time to create an image representing the time history of the plane in space. A line image sensor (2) captures a series of line images of the plane in space which are converted to digital information by an A/D converter (4) for storage in solid state memory (3). To product a time history image of the plane in space, the line images can be retrieved from the solid state memory (3) by a computer (7). The computer (7) displays the series of line images adjacent to each other to create the time history image. The present invention has a number of applications, including photo finish cameras.

50 Disparity correction for location-aware distributed sporting events US15701404 2017-09-11 US10092812B2 2018-10-09 Seth Eisner
Various embodiments facilitate location-aware distributed competitions. In one embodiment, a system facilitates a distributed sporting event that includes multiple players traveling over non-uniform courses that are remote from one another. The system includes a manager that receives state information, such as location information, from client devices used by each of the players. The manager then transmits location information for each of the players to the client devices, which are each configured to present a graphical representation, such as a map annotated with the locations of each of the players. The system corrects for disparities between the non-uniform courses traveled by the players, for example by mapping a location on a course traveled by a first player to a location on a course traveled by a second player. Various mechanisms for establishing the mapping between non-uniform courses are also described.
51 Poker-incorporated sports US15799015 2017-10-31 US10080954B2 2018-09-25 Stephen R. Dunham
A poker-incorporated sports game is provided. The sports game includes elements each bearing indicia, or marking, of a playing card, such as playing cards used in a poker card game. The participants of the sports game have to perform and meet one or more predetermined challenges or tasks to achieve a poker hand from the elements. The participants strive to meet the challenges in the shorted time possible. An algorithm is then used to calculate the score of each participant, based on the value of the poker hand of and time used by the participant to achieve the poker hand.

58 Athletic event timing and display systems US14304670 2014-06-13 US08970353B2 2015-03-03 John S. Lapides
Presenting comparative timing data to the audience of a sports or other competition multiple within an event, where timing or scoring data is stored during each heat, compared between heats, and displayed. Timing data includes lap times, split times, or other timing information. Timing data from each heat can also be compared with historical timing records such as Olympic, NCAA, or other records. A computing device coupled to timing equipment, storage, and a display operate to gather and store timing data from each heat, compare the timing data to generate comparative timing data, and present the comparative timing data to attendees. A software application running on the computing device allows a user to select particular timing data to compare with the current event timing data. Video and biographical information about a given competitor in the event can also be presented to the user.

60 System for Capturing the Position of an Object US14124883 2012-05-30 US20140184207A1 2014-07-03 Johannes Rosenmoeller; Juergen Loeschinger; Richard Feichtinger
A system for capturing the position of a moving object, using a marker that is a passive component, and a sensor that is an active component. The sensor is carried or attached to the moving object and the marker placed at a stationary location. When the distance between the sensor and the marker is less than the detection range of the sensor, the sensor automatically detects the presence of the marker and produces a detection signal. The sensor has an electronic circuit of the sensor with a clock device and a storage unit, so that the time the signal is generated is automatically stored.
