42 Amusement park ride using motion-driven positioning for 360-degree vehicle orientation US13397134 2012-02-15 US08573131B2 2013-11-05 Edward A. Nemeth; David W. Crawford
An amusement park ride adapted for fully rotating a passenger compartment in response to vehicle motion along a guide track. The ride includes a vehicle chassis that engages the guide track and travels along the ride path during operation of the ride. The ride further includes a cam-based positioning assembly that is supported by the vehicle chassis to move with it along the guide track. The positioning assembly operates in response to being moved along the guide track to rotate the passenger compartment. The positioning assembly rotates the passenger compartment in counterclockwise and clockwise directions to provide 360-degree rotation. The positioning assembly includes a cam shaft with three cam follower pairs offset along the shaft and extending outward from the shaft at angular offsets, and three cam rails are used to selectively position the followers to rotate the cam shaft and set the position of the passenger compartment.
43 VEHICLE AND TRACK SYSTEM FOR FLYING CORNER AMUSEMENT PARK RIDES US12026638 2008-02-06 US20090193997A1 2009-08-06 Joel Neill Payne
A vehicle for use in an amusement park ride to provide a flying corners effect. The vehicle includes a body and a guide slot or groove on the body. The guide slot is shaped for receiving and at least partially capturing or enclosing the track. The guide slot is defined in part by opposing first and second sidewalls that extend along a portion of the body. The guide slot is larger in width than the track such that the vehicle is able to move transversely or side-to-side a predefined distance such as in banked curves. Guides are provided on the sidewalls of the slot. The guides may be spaced apart from the edges when the vehicle is centered on the track and provide guidance after an amount of unrestrained lateral or transverse travel. Arms extend outward from the body to capture the track and prevent the vehicle from tipping.

The track further comprises shock absorbing end caps so as to more controllably stop the glide board as it nears the end of the track.
45 Human powered skateboard roller coaster US09765154 2001-01-17 US20020093165A1 2002-07-18 Dan Greene
A human powered skateboard roller coaster used by skateboarders having various degrees of skateboarding skills. The skateboard roller coaster broadly includes a skateboard having wheels attached to a first and second rail of a roller coaster like track. The roller coaster like track can have various curved and up and down track configurations. The skateboard includes a foot platform with a removable upwardly extending adjustable hand grip support with a hand grip attached to the top of the support. The hand grip provides a convenient safety grip for helping balance during practice. The foot platform includes a first end portion with first pivot bolt and a second end portion with second pivot bolt. The first and second pivot bolts are attached to wheel pivot blocks mounted under the end portions of the foot platform. The pivot blocks include wheel bearing supports. A plurality of upper and lower first wheels and upper and lower second wheels are rotatably mounted on the wheel bearing supports. The upper and lower wheels engage a portion of the top and bottom of the first and second rails for holding the skateboard thereon as the skateboarder navigates around the curved up and down roller coaster like track.
46 Sporting and recreational facility slide US258274 1981-04-28 US4394173A 1983-07-19 Christian Aste
Intermediate regions are provided between straight and circular-arc slide sections having a curved sliding surface in cross-section, the intermediate regions being clothoid-shaped in top view. In an intermediate region, which starts with a quarter-elliptic cross-section of the sliding surface at the outer side of the curve corresponding to the cross-sectional shape of the straight slide section, the ratio between the major and the minor axes of the ellipse continuously changes towards the other end so that individual trajectories depending on the velocity of the vehicle form in top view a sheaf of clothoids having the same initial point. The individual structural elements of the slide are flanged at their ends, one flange, each, of two structural elements being adjustable in various directions and supported by a strut.
