An exercising apparatus (20) and method incorporates an open loop system which monitors the activity of an exercising person and directs such activity by displaying the correlation of such activity with a programmed regimen. The apparatus is engaged by body portions of the exercising person operating the apparatus and preferably guides the person in <> exercise while monitoring and displaying a representation of work performed during exercising movement. Specific arrangements for using force exerted by one body portion to provide resistance to be overcome by another body portion are employed, as is an arrangement for monitoring the use of a number of apparatus so as to monitor a full physiological developement program.

CONSTITUTION: A wrist watch band 2 is provided on one end with a buckle 3 and on the central portion with an information reading and writing portion 1. For example, a flexible and heat insulating materials are used for said band. Said portion 1 has a memory element 4 built therein and is covered with a heat insulating material 5 on the periphery thereof. The memory element 4 is a so-called memory tip capable of reading and written which permits information to be read and written by the use of electromagnetic wave is non-contact, manner devoid of electric connection and optical reading. Thus, the memory element 4 can be written and read with no contact in one action manner by a reader-writer even if the periphery is covered with the heat insulating material, so that an information storing means very strong against environment such as water, pollution, heat, etc. can be realized. Thus, it can attached to an arm to be used for the wrist band excellent in water resisting property, portability and durability. COPYRIGHT: (C)1989,JPO&Japio

PURPOSE: To make it possible to have an accurate scientific analysis of characteristic movement and aptitude of horse by installing a measuring device on a prescribed position of a saddle, etc., to measure speed of air-line move and locus change along three axis of X, Y, Z of an actual motion of a horse, then by specifying and analyzing a typical curve based on data of air-line speed and locus change of every cycle thus acquired. CONSTITUTION: In this analysis method, three acceleration meters S1 to S3, which are set placed at right angles with three axis of X, Y, Z, are set on the back part of a horse (when a rider is on, at the saddle head and when he is not, on the girth). Thus, an over-all measure is done, and the speed variation of liner displacement of along the said three axis is deduced by a device 20 of curve data operation execution into a speed variation curve. Further, a double integral which calculates speed and displacement (at the vicinity of middle point) and a Fourier series which is to discriminate a basic wave and a harmonic wave in this cyclic phenomenon are analyzed by the data operation to be converted into an over laid sine curves. 332 Electronic apparatus for physical remedy JP19252687 1987-07-31 JPS63260560A 1988-10-27 KARURO PETORATSURI
The device includes various groups (M1, M1a, M2, M3, M4, M5, M6, M7, P8, P9, P10, P11, EO1, SM1, BO1, CP1), modular, compatible and suitable to be integrated in an unique structure, each for a definite function; drived by permanent electric motors or by hydraulic rams or by pneumatic cylinders with proportional velves, assisted by a system software. The tools or accessories, each specialized to rehabilitate the function of a muscle or limb, first of all allow the dynamometric survey of the function of the patient to be treated. Measuring sensors send the data to a processing unit providing first the compilation of the patient card and the programming of the relevant therapy. Then from the measured and programmed data a system software provides to assign to the tools, through the motors, the positions, rotations, extensions and to calibrate the effort proportionally and gradually. Unlike the devices with passive principle, where the patient works on the tool, with the induced physical and psychic difficulties, arising during the practice of the exercise, the suject device acts itself on the patient, bringing him gradually to the prompt recovery of the function to be restored (fig. 1).

A computer controlled exercise machine in which the user selects an exercise mode and its profile by programming the computer. Signals are produced by the program to control a resistive force producing device. Sensors produce data signals corresponding to the force applied to the actuating member of the system, velocity of movement and angular position which are continuously sampled at a high rate by a microprocessor operating under control of the program. The sampled data values are used to update and display performance results for the exercise and to compute the values of other parameters and, in some exercise modes, to control the amount of the resistive force.

336 True rowing-power measuring device JP7100483 1983-04-22 JPS59196433A 1984-11-07 HAMADA KOUICHI
PURPOSE:To obtain true rowing power, by providing a water pressure pan at the inside of a water gate in the front end part of the blade on the central line of an oar. CONSTITUTION:The inside of a blade 1 is cut and a water gate 2 is provided. The water at the time an oar is rowed passes the water gate 2 and the water pressure is applied. When a stopped boat is rowed on a stationary water path, the same feeling when a racing boat is rowed is obtained. A dish shaped water pressure pan 3 is formed. Te rear end of the water pressure pan 3 is arranged at the inside of the water gate 2 by an opening and closing shaft 4 so that the opening and closing movement can be freely made. The rear end of the water pressure pan 3 is connected to a front pulley 7 by way of a supporting arm 5, a linking rod, and a front cable 6. A measuring cable 10, on which an index is attached, is provided between the front pulley 7 and a rear pulley 8 so that the cable can be circulated. The rowing power is measured by the index.
