A trampoline comprises a flexible mat, a plurality of resiliently flexible rods each having an upper end retained in the flexible mat, and a base frame aranged to retain the lower ends of the flexible rods. The base frame comprises for each rod an aperture through an upper side of the base frame into the interior of the tubular frame, and a formation into the interior of the tubular base frame from the lower side of the base frame and spaced laterally from the aperture, which may be formed by deforming material of the underside wall of the base frame into the interior of the base frame, for receiving the lower end of the flexible rod.

126 SUBSTANTIALLY CONSTANT-FORCE EXERCISE MACHINE EP04758892 2004-04-02 EP1608438A4 2009-04-15 HOWELL LARRY L; MAGLEBY SPENCER P
A resistance module (10) for an exercise machine (11) for providing a substantially constant force through a range of motion includes at least one cantilever spring (12a, 12j) and at least one rigid member (14b, 80j) movable with respect to one another along a path of travel (P). The rigid member causes the cantilever spring to deflect and produce a resistance force. The rigid member engages a deflection end (18a, 18j) of the cantilever spring, and constrains the deflection end to a predetermined path of deflection as the cantilever spring and the rigid member move with respect to one another. The rigid member can be a non-planer contact surface (14b) along which the deflection end tracks, or a pivot link (80j). The module can include means for operatively coupling at least one of the cantilever spring and the at least one rigid member to an exercise machine.

129 EXERCISE DEVICE WITH TREADLES EP04715721 2004-02-27 EP1606025A4 2008-07-23 PIAGET GARY; CRAWFORD DOUGLAS A; FLICK EDWARD L; SMITH BRADLEY J; RAUWERDINK MATT; WARNER PATRICK A
An exercise device employing side-by-side pivotally supported moving surfaces. In one particular example, an exercise device employs a first belt deployed about a front roller and a rear roller and an adjacent second belt deployed about a front roller and a rear roller. The rear of the belts in the area of the rear rollers are pivotally secured and the front of the belts in the area of the front roller are adapted to reciprocate in an up and down motion during use. In some implementations, the moving surfaces include an interconnection structure such that a generally downward movement of one surface is coordinated with a generally upward movement of the other surface. In other implementations, the moving surfaces are operably associated with one or more resistance elements that effect the amount of force required to pivot or actuate the moving surfaces.
