167 IN-ORDER DATA DELIVERY DURING HANDOVER IN A WIRELESS COMMUNICATION SYSTEM EP08797309.5 2008-08-06 EP2181558A1 2010-05-05 HO, Sai Yiu Duncan; GRILLI, Francesco; KITAZOE, Masato
Techniques for performing in-order data delivery during handover in a wireless communication system are described. A user equipment (UE) may perform handover from a source base station to a target base station. The target base station may start a timer after a data path from a gateway to the UE has been switched from the source base station to the target base station. The target base station may receive forwarded packets for the UE from the source base station and may receive new packets for the UE from the gateway. The target base station may send the forwarded packets received prior to expiration of the timer to the UE before any new packets. The target base station may send the forwarded packets to the UE without waiting for the timer to expire and may send the new packets to the UE after the timer expires.

A wireless/radio communication scheme uses a particular uplink common channel for each particular terminal group. Terminals within the particular terminal group receive a particular data service, such as a multimedia broadcast/multicast service (MBMS). Terminals in a particular terminal group use at least one particular uplink common channel that has been specifically established for transmitting feedback information regarding the particular data service to be provided. Each uplink common channel can be specifically configured according to the characteristics of the feedback information of a particular terminal group, and uplink channel resources are not wasted.

174 A METHOD AND A DEVICE FOR REALLOCATING TRANSPORT FORMAT COMBINATION IDENTIFIERS IN A WIRELESS SYSTEM EP04798274.9 2004-11-10 EP1683325B1 2009-03-25 SEBIRE, Benoist; VIRTEJ, Iuliana
A method and a device for reallocating transport format combination identifiers (TFCI) of transport format combinations (TFC) forming a transport format combination set (TFCS) in a wireless system utilizing flexible layer one (FLO). Whenever a TFC is removed from the TFCS the corresponding TFCI is left vacant. The vacant TFCI is then assigned to a TFC with a subsequent TFCI. Such TFC with subsequent TFCI may be either the closest one to the vacant TFCI (by its TFCI) or the last one, for example. The size of TFCIs may be reduced if enabled by the assigning phase.
175 ADVERTISING TRANSFER AND PLAYBACK ON PORTABLE DEVICES EP07795617.5 2007-06-01 EP2027541A1 2009-02-25 HYDRIE, Aamer; OLIVEIRA, Eduardo P.; HOWELL, Gareth Alan
Managing predetermined media content in connection with rendering selected media content on a portable computing device. A client application executed on the portable computing device specifies a predetermined media file to be rendered in connection with a selected media file. The client application tracks the rendering of the predetermined media file and, upon synchronization to another computing device, reports the results of the tracking to the other computing device. The computing devices communicate according to a media transfer protocol. In an alternative embodiment, the other computing device transfers the predetermined media file to the portable computing device in a playlist.

The system and method of the present invention uses a plurality of carriers by assigning user terminals to the plurality of carriers so that a minimum grade of service is met and so that throughput is maximized. Each serviced user terminal reports the channel quality of each of a plurality of carriers to a servicing base station(s). The reported channel qualities are then converted to maximum supported data rates for each of the user terminals and each of the carriers. These data rates are then used to allocate data service levels and data rates for each of the user terminals so that a minimum grade of service is met for each of the user terminals. Forward link transmissions, e.g., frames/data packets carried on forward channels (F-CHs), are then constructed and transmitted to meet the allocations.

179 Patient device for bidirectional data communication with an implant EP07014858.0 2007-07-28 EP1895438A2 2008-03-05 Berthelsdorf, Richard, Dr.; Flakne, Dawn; Kosokowsky, David; Rolison, Gary, Dr.; Diem, Björn Henrik, Dr.; Lang, Martin, Dr.; Elsner, Joachim, Dr.

The invention relates to a patient device for wireless data communication with an implant. The patient device can be at least in an unpaired state and in a paired state, wherein in its paired state the patent device is paired to a specific implant specified by an implant's identification code that is stored in said memory of the patent device. Automatic pairing of the patient device to a specific implant is performed upon receiving an incoming data packet containing an implant's identification code when the patient device is in its unpaired state with no valid implant's identification code stored in said memory prior to receiving said incoming data packet containing said implant's identification code. Thus, the patient device is tentatively paired to an implant identified by the implant's identification code contained in said incoming data packet by storing said implant's identification code in said memory. Tentative pairing to said implant is cancelled, if no further data communication occurs within a first predetermined period of time after first receiving said incoming data packet containing the implant's identification code leading to tentative pairing. A soft paired state is entered if further data communication occurs within a predetermined period of time after first receiving said incoming data packet containing the implant's identification code that had led to tentative pairing.
