PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit breaker having characteristic adjustment width that is three times or more and allowing east fine adjustment. SOLUTION: The interval between a fixed core 11 and a movable core 10 and leakage magnetic flux are adjusted; at maximum settings, the leakage magnetic flux is great, the ratio of a working force Fa produced by the main magnetic flux between the cores to working force Fb+Fc produced by the leakage magnetic flux is small, and therefore a large operating current is needed to operate a trip mechanism; at minimum settings, the leakage magnetic flux is small, the ratio of the working force Fa produced by the main magnetic flux between the cores to the working force Fb produced by the leakage magnetic flux becomes large, and therefore the trip mechanism can be operated even with a small operating current. Thus, the ratio of the operating current at the minimum settings to that at the maximum settings is heightened. COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO

PURPOSE: To prevent slackness between a dial and a cam due to vibration in a tripping current adjusting mechanism, in which a gap between the armature of an overcurrent tripping device and a yoke is changed by a cam of the dial operation held by a supporting plate through an instant bar so as to adjust a tripping current. CONSTITUTION: A pulsator hole 12 is provided on a cam mounting part of a supporting plate 1, and a dial 2 and a cam 3 integrated together through an axial part 11 are fitted thereinto for being mounted. Thereby, slackness like prior constitution, in which separate parts like a dial and a cam are combine by an adhesive material or the like, is hardly generated. In this case, by supporting the rotary axis of an unillustrated instant bar by means of the supporting plate 1 for holding the cam 3, supporting members of the instant bar and the cam 3 become common so as to improve the size accuracy of the positional relation between both of them. PURPOSE: To reduce a undesirable magnetic leakage area generated by the magnetic flux flow dividing means, by making the magnetically effective surface area of the magnetic flux flow dividing means at an area close to a part to be acted with a york, smaller than that of an area close to a part to be acted with a permanent magnet. CONSTITUTION: A magnetically effective surface area of a magnetic flux flow dividing plate 16 at a position close to a portion 19 to be acted with a york 1, of the plate 16, is smaller than that of a portion 20 positioned in opposition to a magnetic pole face of a permanent magnet 5, of the plate 16. The portion 20 has such a surface area that the potion 20 is hardly related to the formation of the leakage magnetic flux. On the other hand, the surface area of the portion 19 is small, so that the degree of the relation with the formation of the leakage magnetic flux, of the portion 19 is smaller than that in a case when the rectangular magnetic flux flow dividing plate is used. Thereby the magnetic activity characteristics of the plate 16 is reduced, and the demagnetization of the permanent magnet 5 can be effectively prevented. COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO

PURPOSE: To operate a device with the magnetic tripping current at a low level by providing a magnetic tripping assembly, which includes a mechanism for adjusting the energizing force of a spring and space so as to correct a current level for tripping a circuit breaker. CONSTITUTION: A magnetic tripping assembly is provided with a spring 119 for applying the energizing force to an armature 111, so as to separate the armature 111 from a fixed magnetic structural member 109 and a movable spring adjusting means 131 for adjusting the energizing force, so as to correct an abnormal current value which attracts the armature 111 to the fixed magnetic structure member 109 for unlatching an operating mechanism, which can latch a circuit breaker. This spring adjusting means 131 has a first relation between the moved amount of the spring adjusting means 131 and change in the energizing force of a first part of a moving range of the adjusting means 131 and a second relation between the moved amount of the spring adjusting means 131 and change in the energizing force of a second part for the moving range of the spring adjusting means 131. Operation can be made with a high degree of reliability obtained thereby, even in the case of a low level magnetic tripping current. COPYRIGHT: (C)1991,JPO

PURPOSE: To easily set a desired tripping threshold value in all range by aligning a sliding rod, to which two plunger cores are fixed, to a fixed cavity. CONSTITUTION: When a current flows in a coil 2, a magnetic flux 15 passing through a cavity 9 between poles 7, 8, a magnetic flux 16 passing through the pole 7 and a plunger core 6 and a magnetic flux 18 passing through the pole 8 and a plunger core 5 are generated. The attracting force of the magnetic fluxes 16, 18 moves a sliding rod 3 upward against a return spring 4 and a tripping lever to operate. In such a structure, a pull-off threshold value is set by adjusting an interval between the termination 12 of the rod 3 and the lever 13 with a setting nut 14. The joining operation of the plunger cores is used to control an almost linear tripping threshold value in a sufficiently wide range of setting. COPYRIGHT: (C)1990,JPO

PURPOSE: To accurately adjust a tripping threshold over a long range by providing an annular groove in a movable iron core over a longitudinal distance slightly longer than the axial distance between the maximum and minimum separated positions from a stationary iron core. CONSTITUTION: A groove 56, provided in a movable iron core 20 over a longitudinal distance slightly longer than the axial distance between the maximum and minimum separated positions from a stationary iron core 18, forms a second cavity in a magnetic circuit excited by a coil 16. The second cavity produces a force to magnetically attract the movable iron core 20. When the movable iron core 20 is at the minimum separated position from the stationary iron core 18, the holding force of the movable iron core 20 is added to the magnetic attracting force of the stationary iron core, on the contrary, when the movable iron core 20 is at the maximum separated position from the stationary iron core 18, the holding force of the movable iron core 20 is subtracted from the attracting force of the stationary iron core 18. Therefore, an adjustable range can be broadened because of the special shapes of the iron cores, and the accuracy of adjusting a tripping threshold can be enhanced by keeping the same distance traveled by the movable iron core 20. PURPOSE:To prevent mistripping due to rush current by energizing a plunger, which is driven by the coil current toward the yoke, in the opposite direction to plunger driving with a pressure spring, and by pressing in the plunger driving direction by a spring through a lever which is to drive a contact opening mechanism. CONSTITUTION:When the force of a pressure spring 9 is set greater than the force of a spring 11 of a stopper 13, a plunger 8 heaves one end 10a of a lever 10. When a current over a set value flows through a coil 2, an attraction force is applied to drive the plunger 8 downward. If at this time the current flowing through the coil 2 increases, the attraction force increases also, and the speed at which the plunger 8 is driven downward becomes greater. However great the plunger 8 attracting speed becomes, the revolving speed of the lever 10 round a shaft 12 remains a speed determined by the inertia moment of the lever 10 and the pressing force of the spring 11. When the lever 10 rotational angle exceeds a certain value, one end 10b actuates the contact opening mechanism of the circuit breaker.
