89 VIRTUAL ELECTRONIC SWITCH SYSTEM PCT/US2009036302 2009-03-06 WO2009111687A2 2009-09-11 BALLARD CLAUDIO R
A virtual electronic switch system for a vehicle is provided. In one example, the system includes a switch assembly, a switch interface, and a computer. The switch assembly provides actuators that interface with non-contact sensors in the switch interface. The computer is coupled to the switch interface and assigns functions to each of the actuators. The non-contact sensors detect movement of the actuators and signal the computer, which manipulates an electrical system in the vehicle based on the assigned function.
90 SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR INDICATING REAL TIME AVAILABILITY OF KEY ASSEMBLIES FOR USER INPUT TO AN INFORMATION HANDLING SYSTEM US15587103 2017-05-04 US20180219553A1 2018-08-02 Mark A. Casparian; Alonzo F. Seay
Systems and methods are disclosed that may be implemented to indicate real time availability of individual key assemblies for user input to an information handling system. In one embodiment, the disclosed systems and methods may be implemented to retract an individual key assembly of a user input device (e.g., such as keyboard matrix, game controller, game pad, computer mouse, etc.) when the key assembly is, or becomes, unavailable for input to a user application (e.g., such as a computer game) that is executing on a host programmable integrated circuit (e.g., such as host CPU) of an information handling system. Such a retracted key assembly may then be extended when it becomes available for input to the user application.

Systems and methods are disclosed herein that may be implemented to configure, provide and operate retractable key assemblies and/or key assemblies that present a variable key assembly depression force to a user. In one example, key assemblies may be provided that each employ one or more electro-permanent magnets (EPMs) together with permanent magnet and/or magnetically permeable (e.g., ferromagnetic) key assembly components to control key retraction and extension, and/or to control peak depression force (e.g., typing force) required to depress and displace a key assembly from an extended position to a lower position that causes the key assembly to produce a digital or analog output signal.

93 CLOTHES TREATING APPARATUS WITH DETECTING DEVICE FOR INSERTION OF FILTER US14980597 2015-12-28 US20160115640A1 2016-04-28 Jeongyun KIM; Sangik LEE
A clothes treating apparatus includes a filter insertion detecting device that detects whether a filter has been inserted in the clothes treating apparatus. The filter insertion detecting device, which is installed in a clothes drying machine or the like, may be moved in response to insertion of a filter assembly to generate a contact signal that indicates insertion of the filter assembly.
94 PLUNGER SWITCH ASSEMBLY AND METHOD OF OPERATION US14838998 2015-08-28 US20160064172A1 2016-03-03 ISAAC KIRBAWY; Matthew Schwenning
A switch assembly has a housing with a passage extending along a longitudinal axis. A plunger positioned within the passage is movable along the axis relative to the housing between an extended position protruding a first axial distance out of the housing and a depressed position protruding a second axial distance out of the housing less than the first distance. A magnetic biasing device biases the plunger towards the extended position. The magnetic biasing device includes a first magnetic member secured to the housing and a second magnetic member secured to the plunger and movable with the plunger relative to the first magnetic member. An electrical component positioned within the passage has a pair of terminal members and a sensor.
95 Contactless rotary pull switch US14244187 2014-04-03 US09172368B1 2015-10-27 Davin Robert Lee
A contactless rotary pull switch includes a switch knob assembly rotatable about an axis to a plurality of rotational positions and actuatable to at least one pull position, with the switch knob assembly including a knob element and a rotational shaft fixedly coupled thereto. A rotational magnet is coupled to the rotational shaft so as to rotate therewith, and at least one pull magnet is positioned separately from the rotational magnet. A rotational sensor senses a magnetic field generated by the rotational magnet to identify a rotational position of the switch knob assembly and at least one pull sensor senses a magnetic field generated by the pull magnet(s) to identify a pull position of the switch knob assembly. A rotatable arm member selectively enables/inhibits sensing of the magnetic field generated by the pull magnet(s) by the at pull sensor(s), to identify distinct pull positions of the switch knob assembly.

In some aspects, a switching device for a medical apparatus includes a first switching member adapted to select an assigned operating function of the medical apparatus; and a second switching member adapted to permit the selecting of the assigned operating function of the first switching member. The second switching member is adapted such that it has a detection space in which it detects a presence of an operating object; and the first switching member is arranged in the detection space of the second switching member.
97 Water resistant switch assembly US11351557 2006-02-10 US07504919B1 2009-03-17 Michael D. Tittle
A water resistant switch assembly as a housing and cover. A reed switch is in the housing is connected to electrical wires extending out of the housing through an elastomeric grommet that seals to the housing. A plunger is mounted for longitudinal movement in the housing and supports a magnet which can move closer to the reed switch in one direction of motion and further away from the reed switch in the opposite direction. An elastomeric boot is between the housing and cover and also over the end of the plunger, thereby sealing the interior of the switch assembly. The boot has a flexible portion adjacent to the end of the plunger so that the plunger can be moved by pressing on the boot. This moves the magnet toward the reed switch to actuate the reed switch, and a spring biases the plunger and magnet away from the reed switch when pressure on the boot is relieved.
98 Compact magnetic induction switch US10246598 2002-09-18 US06771155B2 2004-08-03 Yukihiro Asa
An ultra compact low cost magnetic induction switch which manages with an extremely small operation force has an movable member and a coil spring arranged inside a switch case, the spring coil supporting the movable member and the movable member protruding from an opening of an upper surface portion of the switch case. A hole IC is arranged in a switch case. When the upper portion is pushed, a magnet fixed to the movable member moves downward so that an output signal of a hole is changed from OFF to ON.
99 Switch assembly employing magnetic reed switches US10453914 2003-06-02 US20040032311A1 2004-02-19 Alan K. Forsythe
A three-position push-pull switch assembly is disclosed that includes two magnetic reed switches mounted to a circuit board located within the switch housing. A magnet is mounted to an actuator that extends into the switch housing and is axially translatable from a center position to a pushed in position and a pulled out position. When in the center position, the two magnetic reed switches are in a first closed-open operational state. When force is applied to the actuator shaft to move it into the pushed-in position, the reed switches are in a second closed-open operational state. Similarly, when force is applied to move the actuator shaft to the pulled out position, the magnetic reed switches are in a third closed-open operational state. A detent mechanism maintains the switch assembly in the center position when the actuator shaft is not being pulled or pushed away from that position and returns the switch assembly to the center position after being switched to either the pushed in or pulled out positions to thereby provide momentary push-pull operation.
