61 Portable electronic apparatus having a keyboard with a shielding plate attached to a cover thereof US426589 1995-04-21 US5483418A 1996-01-09 Takashi Hosoi
A portable electronic apparatus has a bottom case and a cover. The bottom case has a bottom wall and an opening that opposes the bottom wall. A printed circuit board is disposed in the bottom case. The cover has a keyboard unit and is removably attached to the case so as to cover the opening portion. The keyboard unit has a main body having an under side, a shielding plate and a film member. The shielding plate is fixed to the under side and shields the electromagnetic noise produced by the keyboard unit. The film member has a circuit pattern disposed thereon and is disposed between the under side and the shielding plate. The apparatus is able to secure the cover to the case. The cover may have a fixing portion, and the apparatus may have screws for securing the fixing portion. A keyboard frame surrounds the keyboard unit and is detachably connected to the bottom case and the cover. Finally, the keyboard unit may be detachable from the cover.
62 Faceplate for an interactive display terminal US130241 1993-10-01 US5398046A 1995-03-14 Nicholas J. Szegedi; Eric R. Eustis
A faceplate assembly has an electrically conductive grid, which is electrically connected to a suitable ground potential, positioned on or above a display screen of an interactive display terminal (IDT) where the grid has a plurality of optical pipes with metal walls, which provide electromagnetic interference (EMI) protection, and with optical cores, which enhance visibility, that optically pipe information originally displayed on the IDT screen which is piped to a viewing plane developed by the grid. A continuous, serpentine electrical conductor is carried by and positioned over the optical pipe walls by a flexible, transparent overlay sheet that can be flexed to bring a selected portion of the electrical conductor into an electrical switch closed position with an adjacent optical pipe wall(s). This selected grid position is electrically measurable and thereby determined.
63 Keyboard, especially for electronic data-processing apparatuses US968407 1992-10-29 US5359166A 1994-10-25 Heinz Elsaesser; Kurt Klaiber; Ralf Sauer
A keyboard for electronic equipment screens off RF radiation by using a conductive housing (2), preferably made of extruded aluminum, which is closed off at its two ends by conductive end pieces (25) and which is closed off underneath by a conductive base plate (30). Key switches (9) extend through openings in a conductive frame (15) that is mounted inside the housing (2), which itself has openings (5, 6) for passage of the key switches (9). The elements are configured to reduce the level of any RF radiation that escapes from inside the keyboard. Among other advantages, this reduction of escaping RF radiation prevents illicit detection and decoding of information which is being entered via the keyboard.
64 Control panel with EMI screen US897125 1992-06-11 US5295046A 1994-03-15 Steven K. Knauber; John D. Pechin
A control panel for a television digital special effects device comprises a plastic shroud that has an internal conductive coating and defines a key panel cavity. A key panel plate fits within the key panel cavity. A thin stainless steel EMI screen is adhesively bonded to the upper surface of the key panel plate and an overlay sheet is adhesively bonded to the upper surface of the EMI screen. Apertures for the keys, controls and displays of the control panel are present in registration in the key panel plate, the EMI screen and the plastic overlay. The EMI screen has a main body with fingers projecting from its periphery. The dimensions of the main body of the EMI screen are smaller than the corresponding dimensions of the key panel cavity in the plastic shroud, while the finger-tip-to-finger-tip dimensions of the screen are larger than those corresponding dimensions. Thus, as the plastic shroud is pressed down over the key panel sub-assembly during assembly, the fingers are bent into firm contact with the conductive coating on the interior of the plastic shroud, thereby providing good electrical contact between the EMI screen and the conductive coating of the plastic shroud, which also serves an EMI shielding function.
65 Push-button keyboard assembly with EMI and RFI-shielded multiple individually-replaceable switch modules US110933 1987-10-20 US4814566A 1989-03-21 Edward D. Sigl
A keyboard assembly includes a printed circuit board having conductive paths defining a plurality of switch sites. Contact terminals are connectable in electrical circuits with the conductive paths. The assembly also includes an electrically-groundable conductive panel overlying the board and having a plurality of apertures defined therein in registry with the switch site. A dielectric layer is disposed between the panel and board providing electrical isolation therebetween. A plurality of individually-replaceable EMI RFI-shielded switch modules are installed in registry with the apertures on the conductive panel, in overlying relation to the switch sites, and electrically connected to the conductive panel.
66 Connection structure US790960 1985-10-24 US4683519A 1987-07-28 Osamu Murakami
Connection structure for connecting electrically and mechanically electronic components or devices, such as a printed circuit board, an LSI, an IC, a display device, a switch, a printer unit or a battery, by using a noise shield plate which is made from an electrically conductive resilient thin plate for shielding electrically the electronic components from external electrical noise and which is contained in the case. The connection structure greatly reduces the number of parts required for the structure and the number of assembly steps when assembling the structure, and thus the connection structure is provided at a lower cost.
67 Button switch device US58105584 1984-02-17 US4558191A 1985-12-10 FIG; BURGETH HEINZ; LEITNER GEORG; WOLF JOACHIM
Series of conductors 3 and switch contact surfaces 2 are arranged on a base 1 of a button switch device. To permit additional functions aside from simple on-off switching operations to be exercised in one unit, circuit components 4, 5, 6 such as decoupling diodes, de-bouncing switch circuitry, microprocessors, display devices or the like are arranged on the base 1. These circuit components are in the form of film components and are connected to series of conductors on the base 1.
68 A rigid compact electronic computer US28745372 1972-09-08 US3843851A 1974-10-22 HARADA Y; YOSHIZAWA A
A compact electronic computer comprises a keyboard including digit and function keys, a switch opened and closed by said keys, and a circuit panel for directing electrical signals produced by the switch into the computer. Side plates are secured to the keyboard, the side plates having grooves for guiding and holding a printed circuit panel carrying thereon operation elements. A multijack is secured to the side plates, the multijack including, at least, a means for directing the electrical signals from the circuit panel of the keyboard to the printed circuit panel carrying the operation elements.
69 A COVER FOR A PUSH BUTTON SWITCH PCT/DK2004000229 2004-04-01 WO2004088694B1 2004-12-29 SCHMIDT STEFFEN HASLUND
A cover and a method of making a cover for a push button switch. A frame and a key for switching the push button switch are moulded directly onto a flexible layer forming an outer surface of the cover. The flexible layer shields the key and the associated push button switch from dust and water and the frame shields against rough handling. Since the frame is joined to an inner surface of the flexible layer, it also supports the flexible layer when the layer is deformed during switching of the switch. When the frame, the key and the flexible layer is moulded together, tightness of the cover can be maintained even if one of the parts is perforated, e.g. the outer flexible layer is scratched during rough handing of the covered switch.
