PURPOSE:To render wettability characteristics of recorded image parts changeable in the distribution of a form corresponding to a pattern by patternwise, in accordance with image information, by exposing a plate surface uniformly coated with a substance changed in polarity by light irradiation. CONSTITUTION:A recording medium is prepared by spin coating a quartz substrate with a soln. obtained by mixing and dissolving 1pt. basic violet-3-leucohydroxide in a mixed soln. of 1pt. polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and 10pts. dichloromethane under a yellow safety light. A transparent negative original is brought into contact with said medium and irradiated with a light emitted from a 500W superhigh pressure mercury lamp through a UV-D35 filter at a distance of 15cm for 10sec to obtain an image purple in the exposed parts. This is rubbed with sanitary cotton soaked with water and coated with an oily printing ink. The ink is attached only to the unexposed parts, and paper is pressed to transfer the ink to it, thus obtaining a positive image.

PURPOSE:To obtain collotype with a fine shade of color by exposing the photosensitive surface of a water-soluble synthetic resin layer contg. a diazonium salt as a photo-cross-linking agent through an exposure mask and by printing oil ink on the photoset hydrophobic part. CONSTITUTION:An aqueous soln. of a water-soluble synthetic resin such as PVA contg. at least one of a diazonium salt and an azido compound as a photo- cross-linking agent is applied to a substrate 1 to form a photosensitive synthetic resin layer 2. The surface of the layer 2 is exposed to light 4 through a negative exposure mask 3. The exposed part 2a under the transparent part 5a of the mask 3 is made hydrophobic by photosetting. The unexposed part 2b under the opaque part 5b is hydrophilic, and water is allowed to be well absorbed in the part 2b. By applying oil ink 6 to the layer 2, the ink 6 sticks only to the lipophilic part 2a. Paper 7 is pressed by means of a press roll 9 to transfer the ink 6 on the layer 2.
