61 Progressive shotshell reloading US8169 1979-01-31 US4328735A 1982-05-11 Johnnie D. Allen
This invention relates to some unique mechanical devices, which, when attached in natural sequence to a shotshell reloading press, allows faster, smoother and more compatable performance of said press.Specific devices which are included are, (1) a device designed for more positive reciprocation of a carrying ram, which, when actuated, meters and carries, "either wads of primers to their destination for instillation in a spent shotshell casing". (2) Another unique mechanical device is a miniature leverage system which feeds empty shell casings into the holding slots of the index carrier plate by means of a coordinated swivel mounted lever which forces said casings into holding slots of said carrier index plate upon the acuation of said press. (3) To conclude the unique devices of this application is a holding tray for new primers. Said tray is provided to be attached above said ram wherein new primers are electro-mechanically viberated from holding tray, down a length of tubing and into a cavity of said ram where said primers are reciprocated to their destination of instillation.
62 Shotgun shell loading US937083 1978-08-28 US4177711A 1979-12-11 Richard J. Lee
In a shell loading device, a sizing station is provided wherein a sizing ring is forced onto the head of a shell while depriming. A second station is provided for priming the shell. The priming post at the second station is provided with a freely exposed top face and a central vertical bore through which the primer may be manually dropped onto a support surface. The priming post is vertically movable to force the shell onto the primer. The primer support surface is surrounded by a well having an upwardly extending wall. The upper end of the wall is such that when the priming post forces the shell into the well, the wall end engages and strips the sizing ring from the head of the shell.
63 Centerfire cartridge priming tool US832294 1977-09-12 US4142441A 1979-03-06 Gordon N. Schaenzer
A centerfire cartridge priming tool intended for hand held use and including a one piece molded tool body and a shell casing holder integrally embedded in an end of the tool body. A lever is pivotally attached to the body adjacent the shell casing holder and is functioned to force a new primer into the priming chamber of the shell.
64 Automatic primer feed for shotgun shell reloader US561120 1975-03-24 US3973465A 1976-08-10 Theodore J. Bachhuber; Philip C. Bachhuber, Jr.
A primer tray is mounted on the tool carriage of a shotgun shell reloader and is tilted to urge the primers therein toward a dispenser opening in one corner of the tray. A dispenser arm moves one of the primers over the dispenser opening when the reloading tools on the tool carriage are moved to contact shotgun shells on the reloader's work table. A dispenser tube is attached to the bottom of the primer tray under the dispenser opening and guides the primer to a predetermined primer delivery point on the work table. In one embodiment, the primer dispenser tube is within the ram which seats the primer in the base of the shotgun shell. In another embodiment, the primer dispenser tube is adjacent to the primer seating ram.
65 Hand loading press for field use or the like US3735666D 1971-05-17 US3735666A 1973-05-29 DECKER H
A ram element is slidable on parallel rods, which at one end are secured to a die holder into which standard rifle and pistol dies are threaded along an axis parallel to and midway between the rods. At their other end, the rods are secured to a base to which hand operated levers are pivotally mounted. Sliding movement of the ram is effected through links connected between it and the levers. The links are arranged so that of the force components applied to the ram from the levers, all but those directed parallel to the axis of the die holder are balanced out. The ram is adapted to releasably hold seats for cartridge cases of different sizes, and has a central opening through which a primer cap passes upon being ejected from a spent case by a die decapping pin as the ram forces it into the die held in the die holder.
66 Shotgun shell reloader with sizing die and ejector US3702089D 1971-01-27 US3702089A 1972-11-07 BACHHUBER THEODORE J
The tool-supporting carriage of a reloader is actuated by a toggle lever system having one of its links provided with an ejector cam. The tools mounted on the carriage include a resizing die having a tubular support, and a relatively reciprocable depriming punch and ejector bolt having a U-shaped cam follower portion in the path of the cam, one leg of said portion projecting through the carriage interiorly of said support and another leg thereof being guided and supported by the carriage to resist a lateral component of cam thrust while providing prolonged cam action in the ejection from the sizing die of the re-sized cartridge.
67 Shell reloading apparatus US3693497D 1971-03-04 US3693497A 1972-09-26 JACOBITZ HARVEY A
A shell reloading apparatus having an improved expander button which is positioned to expand the bullet-gripping shell neck. A used shell is first inserted into a cavity of the apparatus to reduce the diameter of the shell neck. The shell is then withdrawn from the cavity and over the expander button. A hard metal carbide ring on the expander button engages the inside of the shell neck as the shell is withdrawn from the cavity to thereby expand the shell neck to an accurately controlled diameter. Lubrication of the neck is not required and the ring can last indefinitely since it is highly immune to wear.
68 Cartridge primer US3555959D 1968-04-22 US3555959A 1971-01-19 LEE RICHARD J
A small, portable hand tool is provided for installing new primers in used cartridges or shotgun shells to permit the reloading of said cartridges or shells on the shooting range or in the field, said tool having a hand lever action providing a desired ''''feel'''' when inserting a new primer to control the seating pressure for reliable firing, and said tool being designed to have a variety of cartridge holders interchangeably mounted thereon to permit the reloading of cartridge cases and shells of differing sizes and styles.
