101 ADJUSTABLE ORTHODONTIC BAND PCT/US0230165 2002-09-23 WO03026526A2 2003-04-03 PEACOCK JAMES C III
An adjustable orthodontic band conforms around teeth of varied sizes. The band may be elastic or a superelastic alloy, and elastically expands under force to fit different teeth. Or the band has shape memory, e.g. shape memory metal alloy, with variable circumference under applied energy such as heat. The band may be solid heat shrink or elastomeric polymer, or metal alloy. Or, interconnected struts are separated by voids that may receive cement or are covered with elastomer . Adjustability may vary along the band. A kit of adjustable bands has varied adjustable size ranges, and may include no more than about 8 or fewer bands together covering an overall range of up to 30 % or more difference in circumference. One band having at least a 30 % range of adjustable circumference also may be provided for each tooth type. The adjustable bands are pre-coated with cement, and are pre-packaged in a UV and moisture protective container. Estimated size is all that is required to choose the correct band for most teeth.
102 DENTAL FLOSSING DEVICES PCT/US9705132 1997-03-28 WO9736549A2 1997-10-09 SINES RANDY D; KRISE DAVID A
Dental flossing devices (10, 11, 34, 100) and methods which are of particular use with corrective dental braces (71, 171). The flossing devices utilize a strand of floss (14, 44, 150) supported by an arm (20, 38, 120) attached to a grip (12, 36, 112). The arm (20, 38, 120) includes one or more extensions (22, 30, 56, 141, 142) which support the floss (14, 44, 150) and can be inserted under a brace wire (71, 171). An extension (141) which is more flexible and curved facilitates tensioning of the floss when forced against a tooth (172). In another embodiment a supply roll of floss (42) is included. Other flossing devices include a loop (14, 44) which is engaged by the user's finger.
103 ORTHODONTIC TOOL FOR THE PLACEMENT, POSITIONING AND ATTACHING OF BRACKETS ON THE VESTIBULAR SURFACE OF THE TOOTH PCT/IB2014063934 2014-08-15 WO2015025255A3 2015-05-28 GARCÍA ACOSTA GABRIEL; LANGE MORALES KAREN; PUENTES LAGOS DAVID ERNESTO; PARADA PARADA SARA ESTELA; RUÍZ ORTIZ MANUEL RICARDO; GARZÓN PACHECO ANA MARÍA; LEÓN CASTELLANOS WILLIAM RICARDO; ÁLVAREZ JUAN RICARDO; VANEGAS MATA CARLOS JULIO; NUÑEZ VILORIA JHON WALTHER

105 METHOD FOR CREATING FEATURES IN ORTHODONTIC ALIGNERS PCT/US2006005036 2006-02-13 WO2006091416A2 2006-08-31
A method for creating features in an orthodontic aligner (20) employs a hot air source (30) having a maximum flow rate of approximately 10 liters per minute to selectively heat a small local region (21 ) of the aligner (20) above the thermoforming temperature of the aligner material. The heated region (21 ) of the aligner (20) is manipulated to form the desired feature (22), and then allowed to cool to solidify the feature (22). These features (22) can be used, for example, to directly impart therapeutic forces on teeth (10), or for attachment of aligner auxiliaries (52) to the aligner (20).
106 TOOL AND METHOD FOR ADJUSTING ORTHODONTIC EXPANSION SCREWS PCT/US0217900 2002-06-06 WO02098284A3 2003-04-03 LAUREN MARK D; WARUNEK STEPHEN P
An adjusting tool (300) and associated method of use for turning orthodontic expansion screws are described. The tool or device (30) consists of a contra-angled molded plastic handle or housing (38) with a rotatable pin (40) at the distal end for inserting into an expansion screw located in a patient's mouth. The tool housing (38) is designed to limit the angular rotation of the pin (40) to the arc required for insertion and subsequent activation of the orthodontic screw. When rotated to the position associated with screw activation, the pin (40) is captured and held in place by a locking mechanism (90) which then requires the tool (30) to be disengaged from the screw prior to its removal from the patient's mouth. This feature eliminates the possibility of reversing and deactivating the expansion screw by pulling the expansion key straight out of the mouth. A manual release mechanism (104) on the tool frees the pin (40) to allow the pin to be rotated back to the insertion position. A built-in light (50) assists with sighting the end of the wire and the insertion holes in the expansion screw.

The body has first and second, spaced apart arm portions connected to each other. Each arm portion includes a jaw portion having an inner, arch wire-gripping, surface. The inner gripping surfaces are disposed opposite one another in spaced relation with a station defined therebetween for receiving the arch wire. At least a portion of the station is sized smaller than the arch wire. The arm portions are resiliently deflectable outwardly away from each other to admit the arch wire into the station. Once seated in the station, the arch wire is tightly held by inner gripping surfaces so as to resist displacement of the gripping device relative to the arch wire.
