PURPOSE:To prevent the terminal end of a wrapped outer skin canvas from peeling off, by positioning one belt-widthwise side edge of the outer skin canvas outside of the other side edge thereof over the entire circumference of a belt. CONSTITUTION:In a wrapped V-belt 1 a belt core 2 is covered around the entire periphery of the belt core 2 with an outer skin canvas 3. One belt-widthwise side edge 3a of the outer skin canvas 3 is positioned outside of the other side edge 3b over the entire circumference of the belt. Accordingly, when the unvulcarnized belt core 8 onto which the outer skin canvas 3 wrapped is set in a vulcanizing dies 9, if the belt core 8 is disposed therein such that the one side edge 3a positioned on the outside in accordance with the wrapping direction B of the outer skin canvas 3 is retained, it may be set in the dies 9 without the outer skin canvas 3 peeling off.

PURPOSE:To prevent the terminal end section of a wrapped outer skin canvas from peeling off upon running of a belt, by positioning an acute or obtuse angle part in the starting end section of the wrapped outer skin canvas outside of the terminal end section of the same, in the joint section of the belt. CONSTITUTION:An obtuse angle part 6a in the starting end section 6 of a wrapped outer skin cnavas 3 is made into close contact with a belt core 2, then an acute angle part 7a in the terminal end section of the wrapped outer skin canvas 3 is made in close contact with the obtuse angle part 6a, and then an acute angle part 6b in the starting end section 6 and an obtuse angle part 7b in the terminal end section 7 are successively made into close contact one with another. Accordingly, the acute angle end part 7a in the terminal end section 7 which is liable to peel off, is held between the obtuse and acute angle parts 6a, 6b while the obtuse angle part 7b in the terminal end section 7 which may hardly peel off is positioned at the outermost side, and therefore, in the joint section of the outer skin canvas 3, there occurs substantially no peeling-off upon running of the belt.

PURPOSE: To improve the transmission efficiency by applying a uniform tension onto each of a plurality of belts consisting of thin plates by a tension pulley. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of belts 22a, 22b and 22c consisting of thin plates are laid between a driving pulley 4, driven pulley 11 and a tension pulley 19, and each of a plurality of belts 22a, 22b and 22c consisting of thin plates is applied with a uniform tension by the tension pulley 9. Therefore, the slip generated between each pulley 4, 11, 19 and the belt 22a, 22b, 22c is exceedingly reduced, and transmission efficiency can be improved. COPYRIGHT: (C)1985,JPO&Japio
68 Motive power transmission belt JP378783 1983-01-13 JPS59131051A 1984-07-27 OKAMOTO TOSHIAKI; YAMAMOTO HIDEHIRO
PURPOSE:To lengthen the life of a motive power transmission belt, by making numerous projections of a material of higher thermal conductivity than that for the belt, on the belt except for its sides to be put in pressure contact with a pulley, to improve the heat radiating property of the belt to suppress its temperature rise. CONSTITUTION:A motive power transmission belt 1 is wound in the V-groove of a pulley, for example. A plurality of anti-tension elements 3 are provided in the body 2 of the belt 1 so that the anti-tension elements extend in the direction of the width of the belt. The oblique sides 21, 22 of the belt 1 are put in pressure contact with the pulley at both the sides of its groove. The belt 1 is coated with canvas layers 25, 26 at the top 23 and bottom 24. Numerous projections 4 made of a material of higher thermal conductivity than that for the body 2 of the belt 1 are provided on the canvas layers 25, 26 to increase the surface area of the belt except for the part to be put in pressure contact with the pulley. The radiation of heat to the atmosphere is thus effectively caused to suppress the rise in the temperature of the belt 1 to lengthen its life.

A transmission belt (10) has a contact face (18a) which contacts a pulley when the belt (10) is wound around the pulley. Foreign matter (25) is embedded near the contact face (18a) in the belt (10). The contact face (18a) is worn by the pulley when the belt (10) rotates around the pulley, so that the foreign matter (25) is exposed at the contact face (18a). The foreign matter (25) contacts the pulley to make a warning sound. Due to this, a user of the belt (10) can determine the extent of the wear of the belt (10), and the decrease in the transmissibility of the belt (10) and the pulley.

A tool for inspecting serpentine belts of vehicles includes a main body, an upper tang, a right tang, a left tang, a holder and a handle. The tangs define a window therebetween. The window is adapted to receive a belt to be inspected. The handle may be a flashlight used to illuminate the belt to be inspected. When in use, the window shows a portion of the belt to be inspected. A technician can inspect the portion of the belt shown for cracks and recommend replacing the belt.
