101 Door security system US122926 1993-09-17 US5340172A 1994-08-23 Lloyd Sweet
A security bar system for use on both "inward" and "outward" opening doors that provides security by preventing forcible entry. The system preferably comprises an elongated, telescoping, bar arranged to extend horizontally across and adjacent to a pair of double doors. Inward opening doors are secured by mounting the security bar on opposing hinges, modified by incorporating docking ferrules into which right angle mounting dowels existing at each end of the reinforcing bar can be securely inserted, effectively barricading the doors closed. For outward opening double doors, where the hinge pins are typically located on the outside, door jamb mounting brackets in lieu of hinge mounted docking ferrules, are securely fastened to both sides of the door jamb material on the interior at approximately the same height as the door knobs. To secure outward opening doors, the security bar is mounted on the mounting brackets and equipped with an adjustable sleeve that, when properly positioned, engages both door knobs securing them to the security bar.
102 Security device for dual doors US92507 1993-07-15 US5294160A 1994-03-15 Robert H. Arthur
A security device for securing first and second adjacent doors having first and second door knobs, respectively. Each door knob has a neck portion and a head portion. The security device comprises: (a) a rigid plate disposed substantially between two parallel planes; (b) first and second openings spaced apart from one another in a bottom wall of the plate; (c) first and second holes in first and second side walls of the plate, the holes extending through the plate into the openings; and (d) first and second locking pins slidably disposed within the first and second holes. The first and second locking pins extend below the respective neck portions of the door knobs when the locking pins are in their locking positions. The locking pins have protruding portions extending out of the side walls of the plate for gripping by a user of the security device. A ball can be provided near an inner end of each locking pin. The ball has a diameter larger than the diameter of the respective hole in which the respective locking pin slides to prevent the locking pin from being removed from the plate. A notch can also be provided in inside walls of the openings. The balls rest in the notches when the locking pins are in their locking positions.
103 Refrigerator door lock apparatus US780963 1991-10-23 US5152564A 1992-10-06 Ronald W. Martineau
A "U" shaped door lock is arranged to receive adjacent handles of a refrigerator door therebetween formed of typically "L" shaped configurations and adjacency relative to one another. The door lock apparatus includes spaced parallel legs of deflectable memory retentent material to effect spring back of the legs when directed together, with a modification of the invention to include a latch member mounted at a lower end of the legs requiring deflection of the legs permitting engagement of the latch relative to both legs to receive adjacent door handles of closed "C" shaped configurations. A further modification of the invention includes an audible alarm member mounted to one of the legs actuated upon attempted removal of the lock member relative to the refrigerator handles.
104 Locking mechanism for sliding windows and doors US654306 1991-02-12 US5143412A 1992-09-01 Per-Olof Lindqvist
A locking mechanism for a sash type window comprising two adjacent sashes arranged to slide one behind the other in a generally horizontal direction within an enclosing frame is disclosed. When the window is in its closed position, actuation of the locking mechanism causes the sashes to slide relative to one another in a direction away from each other to assure better sealing between the sashes and the enclosing window frame. In a preferred embodiment, the two sashes are also drawn towards each other in a direction perpendicular to the sliding direction in order to obtain better sealing between the sashes themselves. The locking mechanism may also be used on sliding doors.
105 Auxiliary computer panel to cover a disk drive access side of a computer casing US593882 1990-10-05 US5116261A 1992-05-26 Ray Lan; Collins Tsai
A computer panel includes a panel member to be locked against the side of a computer casing from which the disk drives are accessed. The panel member has a window opening to access the disk drives. A cover is hinged to the panel member to close the window opening. A first lock is provided on the panel member to lock the panel member against the computer casing. A second lock is similarly provided on the panel member to lock the cover against the panel member. A key operable rotary actuator is mounted on the panel member and connected to the first and second locks to simultaneously actuate the first and second locks to unlock the cover from the panel member and the panel member from the computer casing when the rotary actuator is operated by a key.
106 Paddle latch assembly US534171 1990-06-06 US5042853A 1991-08-27 Stephen J. Gleason; Marvin L. Larsen
A latch assembly for releasably securing a closure element with a striker element in a closed position. The latch assembly consists of a housing with a body, a release lever mounted for movement relative to the housing between (a) a normal position and (b) a release position; first and second latch elements mounted to the housing for movement relative to each other and the housing, with the first latch element being movable relative to the housing between a latched position in which it maintains the closure in its closed position and a release position in which the closure can be moved out of its closed position, and cooperating structure on the release lever and first and second latch elements for moving the second latch element relative to the housing and, in response thereto, causing the first latch element to move from its latched position to its release position as an incident of the release lever moving from its normal position to its release position.
107 Cooperating cover mechanisms US763491 1985-08-08 US4585139A 1986-04-29 Bruce A. Bronson; Anatoly Vanetik
The housing (12) of a printer-plotter (10) includes a top cover (14) and a front cover (30) on adjoining housing walls. The top cover (14) is biased toward its open position by a gas spring (20) that is held closed by cooperating latch mechanisms on the top cover (14) and the front cover (30) in such a manner that the top cover (14) opens automatically when the front cover (30) is opened. When the top cover (14) is initially closed, a pivotable latch (22) on the top cover (14) engages a catch (24) on the housing (12) to hold the top cover (14) closed. When the front cover (30) is subsequently closed, a disengaging plate (48) causes the latch (22) to pivot out of engagement with the catch (24) and thus permit the top cover (14) to pivot slightly. However, a stop member (54) on the disengaging plate (48) prevents the top cover (14) from opening. Since the latch (22) no longer engages the catch (24), the top cover (14) automatically opens under the force of the gas spring (20) when the front cover (30) opens.
108 Door locking system US971024 1978-12-19 US4269048A 1981-05-26 Robert L. McDorman
A door lock system for the rear doors of the trailer of a tractor-trailer rig is disclosed. The lock system includes a locking bar fixedly secured to one door and attachably secured to a second door. A pin projects from the second door so that it may pass through an opening in the locking bar. A pin cover locks over the pin for securing the bar to the second door. In a preferred embodiment the pin is formed identical to a conventional trailer king pin or coupling pin so that the pin cover may be used either to lock the trailer doors or as a theft prevention device covering the king pin to prevent unauthorized coupling of unattended trailers.
