A processing device and a method of applying the same for processing a coated or uncoated fibrous web are provided. The device comprises a belt configured to extend around a guiding element, at least one counter-element being disposed outside said belt to establish a contact area with the belt, such that the belt and the counter-element establish therebetween a web processing zone for passing a web to be processed therethrough. The processing zone length is defined by the disposition/adjustment of the belt's guiding element and/or by the design of the counter-elements. The contact pressure applied to a web in the processing zone is configured to be within the range of between about 0.01 MPa and about 70 MPa.

A belt press including a roll having an exterior surface and a permeable belt having a side in pressing contact over a portion of the exterior surface of the roll. The permeable belt having a tension of at least 30 KN/m applied thereto. 83 Control system for gap measuring US09713434 2000-11-15 US06860030B1 2005-03-01 Edwin X. Graf; James A. Eng; David W. Root
A control system for measuring a gap in an apparatus for pressing a traveling paper web as the paper web travels through the gap accompanied by at least one belt or felt, the apparatus including a press apparatus and a support surface defining a gap therebetween. A frame is provided for moveably supporting the press apparatus. An actuator is operatively disposed between the frame and press apparatus for selectively moving the press apparatus toward and away from the support to control the gap size. A transducer is mounted in either the press apparatus or support for producing a signal indicative of the pressure on the paper web as the paper web, belt and felt pass through the gap beneath the transducer. A controller is operatively linked with the transducer for receiving the signal, determining the measure of the gap as a function of the pressure, and causing the actuator to selectively move the press apparatus to control the gap size.
84 Press US09700339 2000-12-14 US06334933B1 2002-01-01 Ilpo Koski
A press for the dewatering of a fiber web, comprising a roll, a counterpart and and an endless press belt adapted to glide around the counterpart. Into the concave press zone region of the counterpart, a flexible press plate is adapted, anchored to the counterpart at the leading edge of the counterpart, relative to web motion. Beneath the press plate, hydrostatic pressure chambers are provided, separated from each other by means of flexible pressure lines. By individually controlling the pressures of the chambers, the leads and optionally the press plate edges, a desired pressure profile is obtained across the extended pressure zone.
85 Method of making wet pressed tissue paper US671993 1996-06-28 US5795440A 1998-08-18 Robert Stanley Ampulski; Ward William Ostendorf; Osman Polat
The present invention provides method for making a wet pressed paper web. An embryonic web of papermaking fibers is formed on a foraminous forming member, and transferred to an imprinting member to deflect a portion of the papermaking fibers in the embryonic web into deflection conduits in the imprinting member. The web and the imprinting member are then pressed between first and second dewatering felts in a compression nip to further deflect the papermaking fibers into the deflection conduits in the imprinting member and to remove water from both sides of the web. The compression nip has an extended length, and can comprise convex and concave opposed compression surfaces.
86 Roll for the press in a paper machine or the like US356777 1989-05-24 US4998333A 1991-03-12 Osmo Skytta
A roll (1) for the press of a paper machine or the like, comprising a substantially rigid cylindrical shell body (2); a resilient layer (3) made of a resilient material such as rubber and positioned on the shell body; and a surface layer (4) positioned on the resilient layer. The resilient layer (3) is formed by fastening profiles (9) made of soft and resilient rubber to the surface of the shell body (2) in such a manner that substantially equally wide conduits (10) are defined between the profiles (9). The surface layer (4), in turn, is fastened to the profiles (9) on to the surface facing away from the shell body (2). In order to cool the resilient layer (3) of the roll (1), water is introduced into the conduits (10) between the profiles (9) through one connection conduit (8).

A press apparatus is disclosed for removing fluid from a fibrous web. The apparatus includes a press member and a blanket cooperating with the press member for defining therebetween an elongate pressing section such that the web is pressed between the press member and the blanket during passage through the pressing section. The blanket is urged towards the press member such that when the web passes through the pressing section, fluid is pressed from the web. A heating device is disposed adjacent to the press roll for transferring heat to the web such that when the web passes through the pressing section, the web is subjected for an extended period to increased pressure and temperature so that water vapor generated within the pressing section during the passage of the web through the pressing section forces the fluid in the liquid phase away from the web.
88 Band press for a fiber web US330677 1981-12-14 US4468287A 1984-08-28 Hans Dahl
A band press for a fiber web contains a cylinder having a solid surface over which there is guided the fiber web, for instance a paper web, which experiences a pressing or squeezing action in conjunction with a felt or wire and a press band which is impervious for a pressurized fluid medium. To accomplish the pressing or contact action there is provided a press housing containing a plurality of pressure chambers or spaces for pressurized fluid medium and with such pressure chambers operating at different pressures. The paper web is guided in a manner such that it bears upon the surface of the cylinder. The press housing is provided at the location where there outbound or depart the bands with a sharp departure or runnoff edge by means of which the bands are separated from the paper web which continues to remain at the cylinder.
89 Anti-rewet membrane for an extended press nip system US27860072 1972-08-07 US3840429A 1974-10-08 BUSKER L; DAANE R
A press mechanism and method for removing liquid from a traveling fibrous web of the type such as formed in a paper making machine and received from the fourdrinier section with the press providing an extended nip formed between a pair of traveling belts or between a belt and a roll with pressure applied to the web through the belts by hydraulic chambers or by the tension of a belt against the roll. A felt receives the liquid from the web, and a thin porous sheet of a predetermined porosity is placed between the web and felt to inhibit the flow of water between. The compressing time exceeds the release time so that a greater amount of water will flow from the web to the felt than will return to the web.

96 MONITORING UPSTREAM MACHINE WIRES AND FELTS US15810418 2017-11-13 US20180066398A1 2018-03-08 KERRY D. FIGIEL
Collecting data includes generating a sensor signal from each of a plurality of sensors located on a sensing roll, wherein each signal is generated when each sensor enters a region of a nip between the sensing roll and mating roll during each rotation of the sensing roll; wherein a web of material travels through the nip and a continuous band contacts a region of the web of material upstream from or at the nip. A periodically occurring starting reference is generated associated with each rotation of the continuous band and the signal generated by each sensor is received so that the one of the plurality of sensors which generated this signal is determined and one of a plurality of tracking segments associated with the continuous band is identified. The signal is stored to associate the respective sensor signal with the identified one tracking segment.
