Die Erfindung betrifft eine Antriebsanordnung für die Antriebselemente, die zum Einfädeln des Oberfadens in das Öhr der Nadel beteiligt sind. Anstelle von Einzelantrieben für das Absenken der Einfädelvorrichtung und Drehen derselben sowie zum Einfädeln des Fadenregulators zum Auslenken des Oberfadens um die Fadenbremse herum werden die zu diesem Zeitpunkt nicht benutzten Antriebe für die Nadelstange, die Drückerfussanpressung und die Fadenbremse eingesetzt. Es können damit zwei bis drei zusätzliche Elektroantriebe eingespart und zudem der Steuerungsaufwand vermindert werden.

The needle thread is thus more gently handled such that thread breakages on rapidly operating machines are reduced. The needle (11) comprise a surface (29) on the shaft (27) by means of which the eye (23) is forced into the correct angular position to the shuttle track (25) on tensioning.

A method and apparatus for stitching a label to material, particularly to a quilted mattress panel, in which the material and the label are joined face side down rather than face side up. The label is held face side down with a clamp and a panel is held over the label by a clamp, and the two are joined by a sewing machine. The invention further includes a mechanism for activating the thread knife of the sewing machine at such a time that the bobbin thread only is cut. In a further aspect of the invention, a masking mechanism is provided for masking the electronic signals of the sewing machine that would otherwise cause the machine to reset at a normal needle height, so that a sewing operation can be stopped with a needle at a maximum clearance position. In a further aspect, pneumatic cylinders and linkage are provided for raising the needle and presser foot even further at the end of a stitching operation.

A method and apparatus for stitching a label to material, particularly to a quilted mattress panel, in which the material and the label are joined face side down rather than face side up. The label is held face side down with a clamp (20) and a panel is held over the label by another clamp (25). The label and panel are joined by a sewing machine (100). A mechanism is provided for activating the thread knife (151) of the sewing machine at such a time that the bobbin thread only is cut. A cutter and nipper (80) is provided for cutting and grabbing the thread section (81) on a side of the material facing the sewing machine. A masking mechanism is provided for masking electronic signals of the sewing machine that would otherwise cause the machine to reset at a normal needle height, so that a sewing operation can be stopped with a needle at a maximum clearance position. In a further aspect, pneumatic cylinders (362, 382) and linkage are provided for raising the needle (13) and presser foot (12) even farther at the end end of a stitching operation.
