61 Method and apparatus for axial feed of ribbon material US10038794 2001-12-31 US20030121244A1 2003-07-03 Rodney L. Abba; Robert J. Waldron; Robert J. Makolin
A method of controlling twisting in ribbon material fed from a coil of ribbon material into a processing machine. The coil has a central axis perpendicular to a plane of the coil. The method includes pulling ribbon material from the coil in a direction having a twist-promoting axial component relative to the plane of the coil and continuously rotating the coil during the pulling step at a rotational speed greater than zero so that a number of twists in the unwound ribbon is maintained below a predetermined number.
62 Creel with twisting device US430288 1995-04-28 US5492152A 1996-02-20 Koichi Kikuchi; Mitsuyuki Kitagawa
A creel for directly supplying twisted yarns to a machine (13) such as a loom or warper from a plurality of yarn bobbins (3) arranged on a creel (1) for holding non-twisted yarn (2). Two banks of bobbins (3), optionally contrarotate at a predetermined speed to respectively provide "S-twisted" and "Z-twisted" yarn streams (4) having a desired twist number. The bobbins (3) are disposed on a plurality of spindles (5) that are driven by suitable drives (6). A bobbin attachment (7) is mounted at a free end of each bobbin (3) and fixedly supported on the spindle (5). A yarn storage (8) is provided on the attachment (7) and includes a yarn adjustment ring (9) for providing yarn delivery in a stable manner under appropriate tension. Once the yarn has passed the yarn storage (8) and yarn adjustment ring (9), a desired twist is imparted to the yarn (2), and twisted yarn (4) is delivered to the machine (13).
63 Yarn twisting apparatus US912970 1986-09-29 US4769980A 1988-09-13 Georg Siebert
A yarn twisting apparatus is disclosed which comprises a central spindle and a coaxially disposed yarn package carrier. A central wheel is fixedly mounted to the spindle, and the spindle and yarn package carrier are mounted for relative rotation about the axis of the spindle. Also, an offset yarn guide is mounted to the yarn package carrier, and such that a yarn may be withdrawn from a package mounted on the yarn package carrier, and looped about the central wheel and then around the offset yarn guide. In one embodiment, a withdrawal force is applied to the yarn which causes the central wheel and offset yarn guide to relatively rotate and impart twist to the yarn, and in other embodiments one of the members is driven to impart the relative rotation. Embodiments are also disclosed for imparting a double twist to the yarn.
64 Machine for simultaneously twisting a plurality of yarns US517015 1974-10-22 US3962857A 1976-06-15 Edmund Hamel
A horizontally elongated machine for twisting a plurality of different yarns has at least one longitudinally extending drive shaft. A plurality of horizontally extending and vertically spaced rows of twisters is provided on each side of the machine with each twister being rotatable about a respective axis perpendicular to the longitudinal direction of the machine. The twisters are driven in groups of two or four by a common flat belt spanned over the respective whorls of the twisters and over a single drive pulley on the drive shaft. A takeup device for each of the twisters is provided directly above the twister.
65 Method of and apparatus for twisting yarn or thread US296176 1972-10-10 US3943689A 1976-03-16 Albert Kunz; Helmut Kullmann
A system for the spinning or twisting of thread or yarn in which a thread is supplied by a strand-supply spool and is collected on a strand-takeup spool so that the strand spans the distance between the spools over a predetermined length, the twist-generating spool being driven for a predetermined number of turns to bring the number of twists over the length to the normal twisting level before the two spools are operatively connected together for joint operation at the normal rate. The delay between operation of the nontwist-generating spool and the twist-generating spool is created by a counter responsive to the number of twists produced in the length during the interval.
66 Supply spindle for twisting machine US3672145D 1970-11-16 US3672145A 1972-06-27 PFENNINGSBERG JOSEF
Supply spindle for high speed upstroke twisting. A blade, which surrounds an upstanding, stationary core of the spindle, has a cap removably mounted on its upper end, for rapid rotation with the blade. A filament-twisting rotor is mounted on the cap, for rotation therewith and for filament-twisting motion relative thereto. The supply package of filament is mounted on the blade, below the cap, and filament is unwound from this package. A short length of the unwound filament always runs to and over the cap, and to an upper central part of the twisting rotor, for the application of twist and for guidance to an overlying collector spindle. The filament is kept under extremely low tension, and this tension is kept substantially uniform. For these purposes the core and blade are constructed so as to avoid vibratory criticality at normal high-speed rotation of the spindle, and rapidly to dampen vibrations of the core, blade and supply package while the rotational speed rises to or falls from the normal speed, which typically amounts to multiples of 10,000 rpm.
