The flame-retardant interlayer has higher flame retardance than the flame-retardant adhesive layer. The flame-retardant adhesive layer contains a nitrogen-containing organic flame retardant, and the flame-retardant interlayer contains a non-halogen-based flame retardant with better flame retardance than the nitrogen-containing organic flame retardant.

A pressure sensitive adhesive film reducible in the adhesive force by the application thereto of the ultraviolet light which comprises:(a) a base film permeable to the ultraviolet light; and(b) a layer of a pressure sensitive adhesive formed on one side of the base film, the adhesive comprising:(i) at least one elastic polymer selected from the group consisting of a polymer mainly composed of acrylic acid ester copolymers and a saturated copolyester mainly composed of dibasic carboxylic acids and dihydroxy alcohols;(ii) an ultraviolet light polymerizable acrylic acid ester having not less than two acryloyl or methacryloyl groups in the molecule in amounts of about 15-200 parts by weight in relation to 100 parts by weight of the elastic polymer; and(iii) a photopolymerization initiator in amounts sufficent to induce the photopolymerization of the ultraviolet light polymerizable acrylic acid ester;The film is especially suitable for use as a dicing film in dicing a semiconductor wafer to dices in which the wafer is fixed on the film with a relatively large adhesive force and thereafter the film is irradiated by the ultraviolet light from the other side thereof to substantially reduce the adhesive force of the film so that the dice is loosely adhered onto the film.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a flame-retardant adhesive film that uses a non-halogen type flame-retarder and can realize good electric insulation, adhesion and flame retardancy by laminating an insulating base film, a specific interlayer and a specific adhesive layer. SOLUTION: An insulating base film 1, a flame-retardant interlayer 2 and a flame-retardant adhesive layer 3 containing (A) a nitrogen-containing organic flame-retarder are laminated in this order where the flame-retardant inter layer 2 is allowed to contain (B) a halogen-free flame retardant that has better flame- retardancy than that of the component (A), thereby producing the objective film. As a component A, is cited preferably a substance that contains no halogen atom, and can preferably realize high insulation resistance, when it is admixed to the flame-retardant adhesive, and for example, melamine cyanurate or the like is preferable. The amount of the component A is preferably 50-150 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of a base resin for adhesive layer 3. Ammonium polyphosphate or the like may be cited as a component B. The content of the component B is preferably 50-200 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of a base resin for the interlayer 2.
