Hierbei werden sie als diffusionsfähige metallfreie Farbstoffe aus Farbabspaltern bildmäßig freigesetzt, auf eine Bildempfangsschicht übertragen und dort mit Ni- oder Cu-lonen in die entsprechenden Metallkomplexe überführt.
