NEW MATERIAL:A pyridylazo compound of formula I (R is halogen-substituted pyridine ring).
EXAMPLE: 2-[2-(3,5-dibromopyridyl)azol]-5-dimethylaminobenzoic acid.
USE: Analytical reagent. Sensitive color reaction with V, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn, Ga, Pd, and U.
PROCESS: A halogeno-2-aminopyridine of formula II is diazotized with isoamyl nitrite in ethanol or ether, and the diazo compound thus obtained is coupled with m- dimethylaminobenzoic acid with ice cooling to obtain the compound I.

An azo metal chelate coloring matter which is a compound formed by the chelate bonding between an azo type coloring matter compound and at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Co, Ni, Cu and Pd, wherein the azo type coloring matter compound has a structure in which, for example, an 1, 3, 4-thiadiazole ring as a diazo component is bound to a coupler component having a fluorine-substituted alkylsulfonylamino group and an amino group forming a condensed ring, characterized in that it has two absorption bands (OD1 and OD2) in the absorption spectrum taken in the wavelength range of 400 nm to 800 nm, and the ratio (OD2/OD1) between the absorbances of the two absorption bands is greater than 1.25. The azo metal chelate coloring matter can be used for providing an optical recording medium capable of conducting enhanced speed recording. |
