PURPOSE: To obtain an aq. coating material forming a polishable coating film by using a specific aminourethane, a water-dilutive epoxy compd. and, according to circumstances, an addition product comprising an amine adduct as a curing agent of an aq. epoxy system.
CONSTITUTION: An addition product consisting of (A) an aminourethane, (B) a water-dilutive epoxy compd. and, according to circumstances, (C) an amine having at least one primary amine group is prepared. The component A is obtained by reacting a compd. having a cyclic carbonate (obtained from CO
2 and any of epoxy compds.) and an amine having a primary amino group (pref., polyamine) in a carbonate and amino ratio of 1:(10-1.1). The component B is a product obtained by condensing an aliphatic polyhydroxy compd. with a mol.wt. of 200-20,000 g/mol (especially pref., polyethylene glycol) and an epoxide having two epoxy groups and an epoxy equivalent of 100-2,000 g/mol in an OH epoxy ratio of 1:(3.5-10). This ABC addition product is used as a curing agent of an aq. epoxy system to obtain an polishable coating film.

PURPOSE: To obtain a curable coating composition excellent in scratch resistance, gasoline resistance, etc., by incorporating a specific carbamate-functional polymer and a compound having a plurality of functional groups which are reactive with the carbamate groups on this polymer.
CONSTITUTION: A polyisocyanate (e.g. toluene diisocyanate) and an active hydrogen-containing chain extender (e.g. trimethylolpropane) are mixed and reacted. Then, the resulting polymer and a compound having a group which is reactive with this polymer and a carbamate group or a group which can be converted to a carbamate group (e.g. a hydroxyalkyl carbamate) are mixed and reacted to prepare a carbamate-functional polymer. Subsequently, this carbamate-functional polymer and a compound having a plurality of functional groups which are reactive with the carbamate groups on this polymer(e.g. a melamine-form-aldehyde resin) are incorporated as the essential components to prepare a curable coating composition.

PURPOSE: To obtain a highly pure aromatic diurethane and/or polyurethane by eliminating solvent and then extracting with water after aromatic diamine accompanied by release of ammonia and/or polyamine is reacted with excess unsubstituted carbamate.
CONSTITUTION: Aromatic diamine and/or polyamine reacted with unsubstituted carbamate while ammonia is released prepare the highly pure aromatic diurethane and/or polyurethane. At that time, substituted carbamate, preferably an excess amount of about 10-30 moles of carbamate per mole amino group of aromatic di- and/or poly-amine is used. After the reaction is completed, the solvent is separated and by-products, excess carbamate, unreacted di- and/or poly-amine are eliminated by extraction process with water. As unsubstituted carbamate, it is preferable to use those which are produced by reacting alcohol with urea at the site. This method has easy separation under relatively gentle process conditions and is advantageous because of only one-step process.
