A data transmission system for sending parallel data from the transmitting side to the receiving side. When a predetermined period of time t1 has passed after the transmission of an i-th data item DTi, the transmitting side sends a high level data transmission signal DS to the receiving side. Upon receipt of the high level data transmission signal DS, the receiving side reads the i-th data item DTi and sends a high level data reception signal DR back to the transmitting side. The transmitting side receives the high level data reception signal DR, and the i-th data transmission cycle is completed. To transmit the next (i+1)th data (DTi + 1), the transmitting side sends a low level data transmission signal DS when a predetermined period of time t1 has passed after the transmisssion of the (i+1)th data item. Upon receipt of the low level data transmission signal DS, the receiving side reads the (i+1)th data (DTi + 1) and sends the low level data reception signal DR back to the transmitting side. The low level data reception signal DR is received by the transmitting side, and the (i+1)th cycle of data transmission is completed. The data is thus transmitted successively by repeating the i-th and (i+1)th data transmission cycles.

A use state ascertaining method comprises a step of acquiring, for a specific user, information on a connection time, information on the amount of data transmitted and received during the connection time, and information on the line speed during the connection time, a judging step of judging from the information on the connection time, the information on the amount of data transmitted and received, and information on the line speed whether or not the use state of the specific user is lower than a predetermined criterion, and a step of sending a report on the specific user to, e.g., the specific user or the manager if the use state of the specific user is judged to be lower than the predetermined criterion. Thus, a report can be sent to a user of low use efficiency, and therefore the user can be prompted to improve the use efficiency.

A video TS packet separator extracts a video TS packet (VTSP) from a TS. A PES packet analyzer and a TS packet generator decode the video TS packet, encode again at a predetermined bit rate, and supply the TS packet to an input terminal of a switch. The input terminal of the switch receives a TS packet (UVTSP) other than video from a TS packet buffer. A control section controls the TS packet generator and the switch according to the timing information and PCR from a TS packet timing manager. Sign conversion is thus carried out for a transport stream.

A storage medium system using a contactless memory which transmits and receives information composed of start-stop synchronization serial data through an electromagnetic coupling interface section (40). A reader/writer (20) receives serial data (RD1 and RD2) sent from the memory card through the interface section (40), converts the serial data into parallel data by means of a data receiving circuit (35), and transmits the parallel data to a microcomputer (33) through a buffer register (31) for received data. When untransmitted received data are left in the circuit (35) and register (31), a transmission wait requesting signal (WS) is transmitted to the memory card from a reception control circuit (32) through the interface section (40). When the signal (WS) is transmitted to the memory card, the occurrence of an overrun error is prevented, because the card waits for the next data transmission.

A system and method are disclosed for providing authorization and other services. In a preferred embodiment, an authorization service is defined that includes both a messaging specification and a set of rules that govern its use. A first customer wishing to use the authorization service prepares a request that complies with the service's messaging specification and transmits it to a first participant. The first participant transmits the request to a second participant which processes the request according to authorization information provided by a second customer and rules that have been specified for the service. The second participant then prepares a response that complies with the service's messaging specification.

In a video TS packet separator, a video TS packet VTSP is extracted from a TS (transport stream). In a PES packet analyzer through a TS packet generator, the video TS packet is decoded, re-encodes at a predetermined bit rate, TS-packetized and supplied to a switch input terminal. The switch input terminal is also supplied with non-video TS packets UVTSP from a TS packet buffer. A controller is provided to control the TS packet generator and switch based on timing information and PCR from a TS packet timing manager. Thus, codes in the TS can be converted. |
