[Class 139.] Winding - apparatus, electric.- A spring-driven clock has an oscillating armature 4 fast to the winding arbor 3 of the mainspring (not shown) and pivoted at 3 between the poles 1 of a magnet 2, a contact piece 14 rigid on the armature and a stationary contact 6, 7 attached near one pole, these contacts for the magnet circuit being closed and opened with the help of an insulated member 10 which is loosely mounted on arbor 3 but is resiliently coupled thereto by a spring 13. According to the present invention, in such a clock the stationary contact 6, 7 is a straight conducting blade backed by a flat steel spring 9 and secured to an insulating piece 5 attached to the magnet 2. After being stressed, the mainspring drives parts 3, 4, 14 counterclockwise until pin 15 on piece 14 removes the member 10 and allows contact 7 to snap down on to contact 14. The energized magnet returns armature 4 &c. clockwise, and surface 16 cams the contact 7 up until shoulder 12 snaps under the end 8 to break the contact.
