PURPOSE: To obtain the subject apparatus, having suction boxes in a delivery wire part of a wire part for carrying out initial dehydration of a paper machine, sucking waterdrops, etc., sticking to the delivery wire part with the suction boxes and preventing the waterdrops, etc., from returning to a paper stock.
CONSTITUTION: Wire suction boxed 6 are provided on the same side as a suction couch roll 4 and near the suction couch roll 4 in a delivery wire part 11' between the suction couch roll 4 in the final stage and a press part 5 of a wire part 11 for carrying out initial dehydration of a paper machine and the delivery wire part 11' is sucked with the aforementioned wire suction boxes 6 to recover mists or waterdrops sticking to the delivery wire part 11' into the suction boxes 6 and prevent the mists or waterdrops from returning to a paper stock. Furthermore, the suction boxes 6 have a construction in which, e.g. the interior thereof is connected through suction pipes to a vacuum source and drain pipes are provided.

PURPOSE: To surely perform the peeling of the tail part of a wet paper from a wire and the guiding of the peeled tail part by dividing a channel connected to a vacuum suction part into two parts consisting of a tail part and a channel other than the tail part and attaching a rotary valve to the channel other than the tail part.
CONSTITUTION: A tail-sucking apparatus 20 is constructed of a vacuum chamber 32 formed of a partition wall 25, a slide base 26 and an inner cylinder 24. The vacuum chamber 32 is connected to a vacuum apparatus via a channel (a) of the slide base 26, a channel (b) of the inner cylinder 24 and a channel (c) of a saddle 22. A channel (d) of the inner cylinder 28 is connected to the vacuum apparatus through a channel (e) of the inner cylinder 24, a channel (f) of the saddle 22 and a channel provided with a rotary valve 28.

A paper-manufacturing machine and method include the feature of detaching a web from a forming wire by utilizing a stationary transfer suction box past which a felt travels while contacting the web so that the latter becomes detached from the forming wire and adheres to the felt while travelling with the latter beyond the forming wire. The felt and web are lapped through a substantial angle around a roll having a recessed surface whiletravelling toward the first press nip of a press section, and at this roll around which the felt and web are lapped a means is provided for directing steam toward the web and through the latter and the felt inwardly toward the recessed surface of the guide roll so that the flowing steam will on the one hand heat water carried by the web to enhance dewatering of the web at the first press nip while on the other hand the steam will serve to maintain the web reliably in engagement with the felt as the latter travels toward the first press nip. Beyond the first press nip the web may be subjected to one or more additional press nips and, if desired, to the smoothing action of a smooth-surfaced roll which presses the web against a central smooth-surfaced roll of the press section, before the web is guided away from the central press roll to a drying section. |
