A method of manufacturing a disposable undergarment includes moving a web of body panel material in a longitudinal machine direction and cutting the web of body panel material along the longitudinal machine direction tothereby form a rear body panel web and a front body panel web each having a maximum rise and a minimum rise respectively. The maximum rise of each of the rear and front body panel webs is greater than the minimum rise of a corresponding one of the rear and front body panel webs. The method further includes shifting at least one of the rear and front body panel webs in the longitudinal machine direction and thereby aligning the maximum rises of the rear and front body panel webs. The method further includes separating the rear and front body panels in a lateral cross direction, such that the maximum rises of each of the rear and front body panel webs are spaced apart in thelateral cross direction and form a gap therebetween in a non-overlapping relationship. The method further includes aligning a crotch member with the maximum rises of the front and rear body panels and connecting the crotch member to each of the rear and front body panel webs and thereby bridging the gap therebetween. A disposable undergarment is also provided.

An enhanced flexibility fastener product (30) has a base (35) and hook elements (34a, 34b, 34c) integrally molded with and extending from the base (35). Hump-shaped formations (36a, 36b, 36c) (referred to as 'rip stops'), that are integrally molded with base (35), are offset relative to the hook elements to reduce widthwise stiffness of the fastener product (30). The edge margins (31) of the fastener (30) are feathered in that they taper or otherwise reduce in thickness over an extended distance, preferably from at or near the hooks (34a, 34b, 34c) to the edge, resulting in a softer, less irritating fastener tape (30). Fasteners products according to the invention are particularly advantageous on disposable absorbent garments (10) such as diapers, sanitary napkins, and other articles of wear which come into contact with the user's skin.

This invention provides various personalized cooling systems in which heat relief is achieved by Peltier cooling. In one embodiment Peltier cells are attached to a garment with the cold plate of the Peltier cell in intimate thermal contact with the skin of the wearer of the garment. Heat generated by the Peltier cell is dissipated to the ambient from cooling fins. Heat pipes are used to conduct the heat to the fins, or to distribute the cooling across the skin. In another embodiment, personalized cooling in a closed environment such as a room, tent, or car is provided by selective Peltier cooling of garments or accessories in close thermal contact with the person to be cooled. The Peltier cells are powered from stationary power sources, where available, such as room electrical outlets or car batteries. In other embodiments the Peltier cells are powered by portable rechargeable batteries, or by solar cells carried by the person to be cooled. The rechargeable batteries are charged by portable solar cells. |
