152 A METHOD FOR DETERMINING AND VERIFYING THE NUMBER OF SHEETS FORMING A REAM OF PAPER IN A MACHINE FOR SELECTING REAMS PCT/IB2000/001655 2000-11-14 WO01036310A1 2001-05-25
According to the method, the nominal number of sheets (No) related to the definite reams (R), which are to be formed, is introduced into a machine for selection of the reams (1). The machine (1) acquires data necessary to determine a reference weight (Po) and a selection height (Ho). A subsequent check of the weight (PR) of the selected ream (R1) allows to correct lacks or surpluses by adding or removing sheets. The check of the weight (PR) of the ream (R1) can be associated with, or otherwise, substituted by, counting the sheets of the selected ream (R1) by optic detecting marks (8) made on the side of a pile (2), from which the reams (R1) are withdrawn. The marks (8) extend on, and are separated by, a predetermined numbers of sheets, which allow the counting when they are introduced into the machine (1).
153 METHOD FOR ALTERNATING THE STACKING DIRECTION OF FLAT AND FLEXIBLE OBJECTS, MEANS FOR IMPLEMENTING SAID METHOD AND BATCH-FORMING INSTALLATIONS EQUIPPED WITH SAID MEANS PCT/FR1999/001047 1999-05-03 WO99061359A1 1999-12-02
The invention concerns a method for alternating the direction for stacking flat objects (3) which are received and arranged mutually parallel by a device (1), so that they can form batches (2), said device (1) comprising a plurality of compartments. Said method is characterised in that, in order to assemble products for forming batches (2) of products (3) wherein at least two products (3) are arranged head-to-tail, while the sections are moving past in front of the loading station (C), it consists in: extracting a product (3) from a compartment (1A); and modifying the extracted product (3) direction so that, in a predetermined empty compartment, it can be arranged head-to-tail relative to the initial direction (S1) in which it was inserted; inserting said reoriented product (3) in a predetermined location, called reinsertion site.

157 SEPARATING SHEETS FROM A STACK PCT/US1999/004647 1999-03-02 WO99044929A1 1999-09-10
A method of and apparatus for separation from a stack of sheets (150) a block of a predetermined number of sheets (G), the method including moving the stack in a forward direction (F), directing an air stream (24) across one corner of the forward portion of the stack to spread the corners apart, sensing and counting the number of spread sheet corners that pass a predetermined location, and separating the group of sheets from the remainder of the stack when the sensed and counted sheets reach a predetermined number. Further directing a thin plane of air (26) toward the corner and center of the sheets at said location to cause a greater space between the sheets in the group and the next sheet in the stack. Also, vacuum nozzles (164, 166) are provided to remove unwanted air from above and below the stack and group. With the group so formed, separation includes imparting lateral force on the group edges.
158 ARTICLE ASSEMBLY STACKS AND METHOD OF ARTICLE ASSEMBLY FORMATION PCT/US1998/012554 1998-06-16 WO99040009A1 1999-08-12
A method of applying repositionable pressure-sensitive adhesive sheets to moving articles includes aligning a plurality of articles for sequential movement through a sheet application station (72, 74). Each article has at least two different sheet landing areas defined on a common surface thereof. A repositionable pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet from a first applicator is applied at the sheet application station (72, 74) onto a first landing area of every other article as it passes the sheet application station (72, 74). A repositionable pressure-sensitive adhesive sheet from a second applicator (74) is applied onto a second different landing area on all of the remaining articles as they pass through the sheet application station (72, 74). The resultant stack of articles formed in this way does not have all of the note sheets aligned vertically in the stack, thus reducing the overall height of the stack by dispersing horizontally the added thicknesses of the note sheets on the articles.
159 A METHOD AND A DEVICE FOR THE TEMPORARY STORAGE OF PRINTED MATTER PCT/SE1998/001820 1998-10-09 WO99032386A1 1999-07-01

The cassette is carried by lowerable legs which enable the newspaper sections to hang freely down from the cassette. The cassette includes transport handling means (32). A newspaper stream (2) is formed from the temporarily stored units (7), by removing the carriers (5, 6) from said sections (3) and joining said sections end-to-end.
160 METHOD AND DEVICE FOR PLACING ON TOP OF EACH OTHER SHEETS OF PAPER OR SIMILAR ITEMS PCT/DE1998/000207 1998-01-22 WO98037004A1 1998-08-27
The invention relates to a method for placing on top of each other sheets of paper or similar items. According to said method, two sheets of paper lying next to each other on a paper conveyor plane and on either side of a longitudinal mid-plane extending perpendicular to said conveyor plane, are moved in the direction of the longitudinal mid-plane into a collecting station. In the collecting station both sheets of paper are moved simultaneously, at an angle, towards the longitudinal mid-plane so that one sheet of paper is slid over the other sheet of paper. Thereafter, the stacked sheets of paper are removed at the same time.
