PURPOSE: To provide a printing device transferring a printing pattern free from distortion, excellent in reproducibility and having good dimensional accuracy. CONSTITUTION: A printing plate 10 is placed on a printing surface plate 12 and printing paper 14 is wound around an impression cylinder 16. The impression cylinder 16 is pressed to the printing surface plate 12 when it moves on the printing surface plate 12 under rotation to transfer the printing pattern on the printing plate 10 to the printing paper 14. A printing pressure buffer sheet 20 buffering printing pressure is provided to the surface of the impression cylinder 16. This sheet 20 successively consists of a rubber layer 22 for holding proper printing pressure, a sponge layer 24 absorbing pressure of a necessary degree or more and a cloth layer 26 becoming the base of the layers 22, 24. PURPOSE: To make it possible to print at a high speed without winding a paper around an impression cylinder by a method wherein a printing plate reciprocating to a horizontal direction and the impression cylinder operated therewith and freely separated therefrom are adopted and a paper is passed therebetween. CONSTITUTION: When the printing plate 1 is moved, the paper P is let out from let-out and control rollers 7, 7 as well as the impression cylinder 3 is rotated and, subsequently, lowered to print the paper P in such a condition that the paper P is gripped between the impression cylinder 3 and the printing plate 1. If the printing plate 1 is passed over the position of the impression cylinder 3 and reached to a terminal point, the impression cylinder 3 is also reached to the terminal point of rotation and the let-out and control rollers 7, 7 is made ready for being rotated to a reverse direction. In this condition, an ink is coated to a lefthand half surface of the printing plate 1. If the printing plate starts movement to the righthand direction, the impression cylinder 3 is raised while rotated to a counterclockwise direction and retracted to a separated position along with the printing plate 1 and the let-out and control rollers 7, 7 are rotated reversely to inhibit the passage of the paper P. If the printing plate is returned to an original position, an ink is coated to a righthand half surface of the printing plate 2 and the rotation of the impression cylinder 3 is also finished.
