CONSTITUTION: Clean water is added to the product reactivated in the reactivator, which is composed of active carbon and ashes of relatively small size particles to dilute it. The addition of clean water raises the electrokinetic potential of the ash particles to cause disaggregation between the active carbon and the ash particles and the difference in sedimentation speed between them separates the ash particles. The amount of water added is, when the total hardness of the reactivated product is low, for example, less than 100, 2W5 times the reactivated product. When the hardness is high, for example, higher than 100, clean water is added in an amount of 2W10 times that of the product and additionally an ion blocker such as sodium hexametaphosphate is added.
