CONSTITUTION: When a cooling/heating switch 3 is set on the heating side 3H and the room temperature is lower than a set temperature, namely, a thermostat 4 is set at a contact 4L, the energization of a compressor motor 6, an exterior fan motor 7, a four-way valve8 and a control circuit 9 is started by turning on an operating switch 2. The control circuit 9 opens a contact 9A and keeps another contact 9B open when the temperature of an interior heat exchanger is lower than a predetermined level. At that time, the heater 11 and an interior fan motor 5 are not energized and the air conditioner performs preheating operation by the heat pump action. Thereafter, when the temperature of the interior heat exchanger rises and the contacts 9A, 9B are closed, heating operation is started.
