In using this catalyst in the steam reforming of hydrocarbon such as gasoline, precipitation of carbon to the surface of the catalyst is eliminated and high catalytic activity is shown in steam reforming. In addition, a condition carrying out steam reforming by using this catalyst is not limited specially but the amount of steam to hydrocarbon is 10-50mol/mol, a temp. is 300-500 deg.C, reaction pressure is 0- 10kg/cm and liquid hr. space velocity (LHSV) is pref. 0.1-3/hr.
