CONSTITUTION: An emulsified colloid fuel comprising pulverized coal dispersed in an emulsion of water and oil is obtained by finely pulverizing a coal having a carbon content of at least 65wt%, such as lignite, sub-bituminous coal, bituminous coal or anthracite, in a solution of an acid such as hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid or in a solution of an alkali such as sodium hydroxide or sodium carbonate by using a ball mill or the like, until an average diameter of below about 100μ is obtained mixing the resulting pulverized coal with an oil such as fuel oil or kerosene, usually in a weight ratio of about 7:2W2:7, in a kneader or the like, and removing the excess aqueous solution.
EFFECT: As the ash of coal is dissolved in water and removed, fouling of combustion apparatus is alleviated.
