CONSTITUTION: In the inside of an outer cylinder 1 a burner 2 is provided. On the downstream side of the burner 2 a porous solid body wall 3 with an open hole 6 is installed, and a combustion chamber 12 is defined and formed by the outer cylinder 1, burner 2 and porous solid body wall 3. On the side wall 10 of a combustion furnace 4 a burner 5 for ignition is slidably mounted. A combustion frame 11 is formed by bringing the tip end of the ignition burner 5 near the open hole 6 of the porous solid body wall 3 and fuel gas 8 and air 9 are supplied to the ignition burner 5. When a premixture gas 7 of a low calorific value gas and air is supplied through the porous solid body of the burner 2, the temperature of the premixture gas 7 is raised above its ignition temperature and combustion is started. Since the outer cylinder 1 which constitutes the combustion chamber 12 requires no hole piercing, the inside of the combustion chamber 12 has a uniform temperature distribution and the continuation of the combustion is assured.
