CONSTITUTION: A conductive material such as platinum is immersed into an aqueous solution of pyrrole and sodium chloride for electrolytic polymerization and an ion electrode 3 in which a conductive high polymer film is formed on the surface of platinum is immersed into a salt aqueous solution 7a together with a reference electrode 8 and an opposed electrode 9. Then, a square pulse is outputted from a potentiostat 11 by a trigger pulse from a trigger circuit 13 to be applied between the electrode 8 and the electrode 3, and an ion current I(t) is generated in the electrode 3 to be measured with an ammeter 12. Then, the current I(t) at a delay time Td is inputted into a sampling/holding circuit 15 by a delay signal D from a delay circuit 13 and a sample signal S obtained is computed 16 to measure ion concentration. Thus, the ion concentration is determined by measuring the ion current, thereby enabling accurate measurement of ion concentration less affected by electromagnetically induced noises from outside.
