CONSTITUTION: Pole pieces 14, 15 are installed in such a manner that impedance as obtained with the pole pieces 14, 15 viewed at the horizontal center line of a vane 12 is infinite. The distribution of high frequency electric field developed between the adjacent vane 12 and the pole pieces 14, 15 that extends towards a cathode portion 13 is suppressed at the central portion of the vane 12 along the tube axis of an anode cylinder 11 in order to achieve uniform electron density over the whole tube axis area. Also, recesses 20 are provided in the ends of the vane 12 to prevent the strength of high frequency magnetic field that couples an adjacent resonance cavity from being reduced and to strengthen coupling with an antenna lead 21. This arrangement permits high frequency energy to be taken out with high efficiency.
