CONSTITUTION: A chamber 1 for controlling the concn. of oxygen is allowed to communicate with an oxygen separator 2 with deoxidizing paths 3, 3' and an oxygen feeding system 4, the separator 2 is connected to a controller 5, and the controller 5 is connected to an oxygen analyzer 6. The separator 2 contains a gas diffusing electrode as a cathode 7, an oxygen generating electrode as an anode 8 and an electrolyte 9. When the concn. of oxygen in the chamber 1 detected with the analyzer 6 is higher than a prescribed value, valves 12, 12' for deoxidation are opened, and an air introducing valve 13, an air discharging valve 14 and an oxygen feeding valve 15 are closed. An oxygen releasing valve 16 is then opened, and gas in the chamber 1 is circulated through the path 3, a cathode gas chamber 10 and the path 3' with a circulating pump 17 for deoxidation. Direct current is fed from the controller 5 to the cathode 7 and the anode 8 to carry out deoxidation. When the concn. of oxygen is lower than the prescribed value, reverse operation is carried out.
