The separated rubber-coated sheet 2 on the other hand is wound on a forming drum 16 at a controlled speed and by a controlled length by means of contact/ separation of a timing belt 68 and by means of control of the motor 82. Askew feed or positional misalignment is compensated by driving a ball screw 48 via a servomotor caused by signals from an edge detection mechanism 95. The material is in this way accurately supplied to an assembling station.
