CONSTITUTION: A bucket conveyor 2 conveys a rod type body B such as an asparagus in each bucket 2a and a 1st camera 6a photographs the rod type body B in a 1st photographic chamber 4a to obtain a vertical photographic image S1. Then a microcomputer is used to divide the image S1 by (n), small division parts C1, C2...Cn are regarded as a disk, and respective measured diameters d1, d2...dn are used to calculate the whole virtual volume (v) which is the volume total of the respective parts. Then when the rod body B enters a 2nd photographic chamber 4b, and 2nd camera 6b photographs an end surface to obtain an end surface projection image S2 and the whole virtual volume (v) is multiplied by the correction coefficient which is the ratio of the lateral long diameter D1 and longitudinal short diameter D2 to calculate the final volume data V.
