By increasing the number of the projecting parts, the stepping of the load 1 may be made fine. Such an electromagnetic clutch is obtained that during energization of the solenoid 10 the load 1 is driven, but upon deenergization of the solenoid 20 the load 1 is stopped. With this arrangement, the rotation and translation of the load 1 may be carried out in accordance with the number of delivered electrical pulses, and therefore, the electromagnetic clutch which may be digitally controlled by a computer is obtained.
