2 , CO and the like are contained in the stack gas of the device 1. After sulfur is recovered from this gas in the 1st sulfur condenser 14 and the 1st demister, the gas is elevated of temp. by a gas heater 20 and the unreacted SO
2 and byproduced H
2 S are allowed to react in a Claus reactor 23. After the gas is removed of sulfur in the 2nd condenser 23 and the 2nd demister 28, the gas is conducted through a duct 29 and a heater 30 to the device 3.
