CONSTITUTION: Plate glass 20 heat treated at the deformation temp. or above in a heating furnace is suspended with suspending metal fitting 21 at the upper end portion and set between female die 22 and male die 23. The upper end distance between dies 22, 23 is made narrower than the lower end distance to form a forward inclination state. While maintaining this state the space is narrowed, and in the early stage of press molding an upper portion of glass 20 is pressed by dies 22, 23. The inclination state is then shifted to an upright state to pressure-contact dies 22, 23 to glass 20. Thus, the portion being pressurized expands from the upper side to the lower side to finish curving with reduced bending load of the suspended portion, and plate 20 is curved while being applied with upward pushing force to prevent occurrence of strain and stress at the suspended portion.
