1. A machine for processing raw refuse material, said machine comprising: means for comminuting raw refuse material; platen support means; a pair of platens being rotatably carried by said support means and being capable of compressing said comminuted refuse therebetween upon rotation thereof; means for imparting rotation to said platens; means for heating said platens; means for conveying comminuted refuse from said refuse comminuting means and depositing said refuse between said platens, said comminuted refuse being compressed and dehydrated by said heated platens during a single revolution of said platens; and means for removing compressed and dehydrated refuse from between said rotatable platens.
2. A machine as recited in claim 1: said platens being movable Relative to one another to allow a space therebetween during a part of each revolution thereof and to come substantially together during at least a portion of each revolution thereof for compressing said refuse therebetween.
3. A machine as recited in claim 1: said platens being disposed in superposed generally horizontal relation and being rotatable about a generally vertical axis.
4. A machine as recited in claim 1: said platens being disposed in superposed, generally horizontal relation and being corotatable about a generally vertical axis, during each rotation of said platens at least one of said platens being movable relative to the other platen to define a space therebetween during a portion of the revolution for receiving refuse material and moving substantially together during another portion of each revolution for compression of said refuse material.
5. A machine as recited in claim 4, wherein: the lowermost one of said superposed platens is rotatable within a generally horizontal plane and the uppermost one of said platens is movable in tiltable relation to said lowermost platen.
6. A machine as recited in claim 4 wherein: said means for conveying said comminuted refuse material to said platens and depositing the same between said platens comprises pump means receiving said comminuted refuse and having discharge conduit means extending from said pump means to the vicinity of said platens; and discharge means being connected to the extremity of said discharge conduit means and extending between said superposed platens, said discharge means depositing said comminuted refuse upon the lowermost one of said superposed platens.

A machine as recited in claim 1: said platens being disposed in superposed, generally horizontal relation and being corotatable; means for imparting rotary movement to said superposed platens; and means for imparting relative movement to said platens during each revolution of said platens and causing a space to exist between said platens on one side thereof to receive said comminuted refuse therebetween and causing the opposite sides of said platens to be disposed in juxtaposed relation for compression of said comminuted refuse.
8. A machine as recited in claim 1: said means for heating said platens comprising electrically energized heating element means disposed within at least one of said platens; rotary contact means being disposed in non-rotatable relation with said platens and establishing electrical connection with said heating element means, said rotary contact means being rotatable along with said platens; electrical brush contact means carried by said machine and being disposed in engagement with said rotary contact means, said brush contact means conducting electrical potential to said rotary brush means; and electrical control means for controlling the temperature of said heating element means.
9. A machine as recited in claim 2 wherein said means for removing compressed and dehydrated refuse from between said rotatable platens comprises: scraper means being supported by said machine and being disposed within said space between said platens in scraping relation with at least one of said platens, said scraper means being disposed in angular relation relative to a radius of said rotatable platens and causing refuse scraped from said platens to be ejected from between said platens.
10. A machine as recited in claim 9 including: hopper means disposed below said scraper means in receiving relation with dehydrated refuse ejected decending from between said platens; and means for comminuting said dehydrated refuse and conveying the same to receptacle means provided therefor.
11. A machine as recited in claim 2 wherein said means for removing compressed and dehydrated refuse from said platens comprises: scraper means being carried by said machine and having at least a portion thereof disposed in said space between said rotAtable platens, said scraper means being disposed in scraping relation with both the upper and lower ones of said platens and functioning to dislodge compressed and dehydrated refuse adhering to either of said platens; continuous conveyor means being carried by said machine and having at least a part thereof disposed in said space between said platens, said conveyor means ejecting refuse material from between said platens; and means for imparting movement to said conveyor means.

A machine as recited in claim 11, wherein said scraper means comprises: an elongated scraper element of bifurcated cross-sectional configuration being supported by said machine and having one extremity thereof disposed within said space between said rotatable platens, said scraper element defining upper and lower scraping edges disposed in scraping contact, respectively, with upper and lower ones of said platen means.

A machine as recited in claim 11 wherein said conveyor means comprises: drive means disposed in contact with the outer periphery of at least one of said platens; conveyor gear means being disposed in driven relation with said conveyor drive means; conveyor chain sprocket means being disposed in driven relation with said conveyor gear means; and conveyor chain means being received about said conveyor sprocket means and being driven thereby.
14. A machine as recited in claim 11: a plurality of projections being carried by said conveyor chain means, said projections engaging said refuse material and conveying the same from between said platens.
15. A machine as recited in claim 1 wherein: said means for imparting rotation to said platens comprises; drive roller means engaging at least one of said platens; and means for imparting driving movement to said drive roller means.
16. A machine as recited in claim 15, wherein said means for imparting driving movement to said drive roller means comprises: electric motor means; and means for establishing driving relation between said electric motor means and said drive roller means.
17. A machine as recited in claim 1: said platens being disposed in superposed relation; the lowermost one of said platens having a generally planar upper surface and the uppermost one of said platens having a generally frustoconical lower surface, said uppermost platen being of substantially greater internal thickness as compared to the external thickness thereof and being supported by said lowermost platen; and means maintaining the outer peripheral portions of said upper and lower platens into juxtaposition on one side thereof and achieving a spaced relation between said platens on the opposite side thereof.
18. A machine as recited in claim 17, wherein said means for maintaining the outer peripheral portions of said upper and lower platens in juxtaposition on one side thereof comprises: a pair of spaced rollers disposed in engagement respectively, with said upper and lower platens, one of said rollers establishing driving relation with one of said platens and imparting rotary movement to said platens; means for imparting driving movement to said one roller; and means for adjusting the relative spacing of said rollers and thereby adjusting the relative juxtaposition of said platens.
19. A machine for processing raw refuse, said machine comprising: means for receiving classified raw refuse material composed essentially of organic material having high nutrient value and for comminuting said raw refuse; a framework having a plurality of platen support rollers located thereon; a pair of superposed platens being rotatably carried by said support rollers, said platens being capable of continuously receiving and compressing said comminuted refuse material therebetween and allowing continuous removal of cured refuse from therebetween upon rotation thereof; means for imparting rotation to said platens; means for mAintaining said platens at a predetermined operating temperature; means for conveying comminuted refuse from said refuse comminuting means and continuously depositing said refuse between said platens, said comminuted refuse being compressed and dehydrated by said heated platens during a single revolution of said platens; and means for continuously removing compressed and dehydrated refuse from between said rotatable platens.
20. A machine for processing raw refuse as recited in claim 19. the lowermost one of said platens having a substantially flat upper surface and the uppermost one of said platens having a tapered lower surface and being of greater thickness at the inner periphery thereof, said uppermost platen being supported by said lowermost platen; and said means for imparting rotation to said platens comprising a pair of spaced rollers disposed in engagement respectively with said upper and lower platens, at least one of said rollers being rotatably driven and imparting rotation to said platens.
21. A machine as recited in claim 20 wherein: said rollers urge the outer peripheries of said platens into juxtaposition on one side thereof and thereby maintain the platen surfaces at the opposite sides of said platens in spaced relation to allow introduction of uncured refuse therebetween and to allow removal of cured refuse material from therebetween.
22. A machine as recited in claim 21, wherein: scraper means is disposed in the space between said platens and is operative to scrape away any refuse material adhering to said platens and to cause ejection of said cured refuse material from between said platens.
23. A machine as recited in claim 22, wherein: conveyor means is disposed in the space between said platens and is operative to forcibly eject cured refuse material that is loosened from said platens by said scraper means.
