1. A method of creating a multi-color copy from a colored original document, including the steps of: charging a photoconductive surface to a substantially uniform level; exposing the charged photoconductive surface to a first single color image of the original document to record a first single color electrostatic latent image thereon; developing the first single color electrostatic latent image with toner particles complementary in color to the first single color image of the original document to form a first single color toner powder image on the photoconductive surface; transferring the first single color toner powder image from the photoconductive surface to a support sheet having a backing layer and a melamine formaldehyde and silicone coating thereon; repeating said steps of charging, exposing, developing and transferring at least one other time for a second single color image to form a multi-layered toner powder image on the support sheet; fusing the multi-layered toner powder image to the support sheet; heating the support sheet having the multi-color image thereon to a predetermined temperature; contacting the surface of the support sheet having the multicolor image thereon with a substantially transparent copy sheet prior to the cooling of the support sheet to ambient temperature; and separating the copy sheet from the support sheet to transfer the multi-color image from the support sheet to the copy sheet forming a multi-color copy.
2. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein the backing layer includes preferably a fibrous material.
3. A method of creating a multicolor copy from a black and white original document, including the steps of: placing the black and white original document in a multi-color electrophotographic printing machine; reproducing the black and white original document in a first selected color other than black on a support sheet having a backing layer and a release coating overlying the backing layer; removing portions of the first selected color reproduction of the original document so that the multi-color copy will not contain the first selected color in the removed portions; laminating a copy sheet to the support sheet after said step of removing portions of the first selected color reproduction of the original document; separating the copy sheet from the support sheet to transfer those portions of the first selected color reproduction of the original document remaining on the support sheet to the copy sheet; and repeating said steps of reproducing, removing, laminating and separating for a second selected color to reproduce other portions of the black and white original document in the second selected color forming a composite multi-color copy from the black and white original document.
4. A method as recited in claim 3, further including the steps of: replacing the black and white original document in the multi-color electrophotographic printing machine with the composite multi-color copy thereof; and reproducing the composite multi-color copy so as to form at least one multi-color copy therefrom.

A method as recited in claim 4, wherein said step of reproducing the composite multi-color copy includes the steps of: charging a photoconductive surface to a substantially uniform level; exposing the charged photoconductive surface to a first single color image of the composite multi-color copy to record a single color electrostatic latent image thereon; developing the first single color electrostatic latent image with toner particles complementary in color to the first single color image of the composite multi-color copy to form a first single color toner powder image on the photoconductive surface; transferring the first single color toner powder image from the photoconductive surface to the support sheet; repeating said steps of charging, exposing, developing and transferring at least one other cycLe for a second single color image to form a multi-layered toner powder image on the support sheet; and fusing the multi-layer toner powder image to the support sheet.

A method as recited in claim 5, wherein said step of laminating includes the steps of: heating the support sheet to a predetermined temperature after said step of fusing the multi-layered toner powder image thereto; and contacting the surface of the support sheet having the fused multi-color powder image thereon with the copy sheet prior to the cooling of the support sheet to ambient temperature.
7. A method as recited in claim 6, wherein said step of reproducing the black and white original document in the first selected color includes the steps of: charging a photoconductive surface to a substantially uniform level; exposing the charged photoconductive surface to a light image of the black and white original to record an electrostatic latent image thereon; developing the electrostatic latent image with toner particles of the first selected color to form a first single color toner powder image on the photoconductive surface; transferring the first single color toner powder image from the photoconductive surface to the support sheet; and fusing the single color toner powder image to the support sheet.
8. A method as recited in claim 7, wherein the copy sheet is preferably a substantially transparent sheet.
9. A method as recited in claim 8, wherein the release coating includes preferably a melamine formaldehyde and silicone coating.
10. A method as recited in claim 9, wherein the backing layer includes preferably a fibrous material.
