2 is lower elkyl having substitutent (lower alkoxy, phenoxy, lower alkylthio, lower alkoxycarbonyl, carboxyl)] is used as an active principle to give the objective fungicide for agricultural and horticultural use. The fungicide shows remarkable effect on various kinds of blights, such as rice blast or Helminthosporium leaft spot. Further, it has wider antifungal spectrum and higher antifungal activity than the same kind of other preparations, but shows no injury to plants. The compound of formula I is obtained, e.g., by reaction of a compound of formula II with another compound of formula III under acidic conditions in an aqueous alcohol.
