Motion and co-ordination developing tool

The subject of the invention is such a motion and co-ordination developing tool, which is capable of developing children's capabilities age from babyhood until schoolchildren.

The motion and motion co-ordination of children develops by getting acquainted with their surrounding while playing, facing more and more difficult tasks according to their interest, succeed in doing something, experience and a lot of repetition of these. The development and learning effect of a child can be motivated by such subjects, tools in its surroundings, which put some abilities to trial. In case we are speaking about rehabilitation of children handicapped and/or born with development abnormalities, or children who sustained a loss and the tools have a very important role in practising certain motions and poises of equilibrium.

There are a lot of different medicinal tools and toys in use, such as rotating disc, or disc hanging on a rope, so that you can rotate or swing on it sitting or standing, or huge elastic balls sitting or lying on which you can swing, rock or turn, and further there are the different tools to climb on. (The playing tool and the medicinal tool are related to the same subject, the use of each is like a play for both handicapped and healthy children, the difference is only in the recommended usage: medically advised, or optional). These toys - tools can be used specifically only, for certain motions which is a disadvantage concerning some other possibilities of usage missing and the space some of these above tools require. Therefore it is our aim to create such a toy - tool, which has variable spare parts with the help of which diversified usage is possible, and so by means of less tools and space required multiple function is serviced.

The realisation of the above aim is serviced by this invention with the recognition, that we can make a multiple - use - tool by dividing the rigid surface of the globe into components, which can be, if needed reunified, and to these components additional elements can be attached and so a multiple - use - tool can be created. The above tool does not only help us realise the above aim, but also enables us to create such types of motions, which were impossibly carried out so far. (In the following paragraphs we shall use some not generally used, precise geometric expressions, therefore we here recall their definition: „ spherical section is part of the globe crossed by a plane, it is bordered by circle surface and the cut globe surface, the spherical calotte. The spherical layer is the part of the globe cut by two parallel planes, the spherical zone is the surface of the globe between two parallel planes.")

The invention therefore is a motion and co-ordination developing tool, characterised by and consists of- - rigid globe surface divided into spherical calottes or spherical calottes and spherical zone(s) connected with each other by releasable joints,

- and practically other spare parts attached to it.

It is advantageous if the surface of the globe is divided into two spherical calotte parts and it gives further advantages, if these parts are of equal size.

Due to the fact that children lie, sit, or knee within the spherical calotte it is advantageous if at least one of the calottes is lined, and it is advantageous if this lining is spongy.

In order to be able to clean it, it is better if the lining is waterproof, and/or the lining can be taken out.

A further advantageous embodiment of this invention is that at least one of the spherical calottes of the tool can be prepared to a spherical segment with the help of a circle like cover lid, which is rigid and its size is the biggest possible circle which can be written into the spherical calotte.

It is more advantageous if the circle shaped cover lid has borings, into which sticks can be fixed to take hold in.

It is also an advantageous characteristic of the invention, that at least one of its spherical calotte has borings, into which sticks are fixed to take hold in.

Further we make You familiar-with the invention with the help of drawings, where fig. 1 shows an exploded figure as an example of the invention together with its removable spare parts, which can be attached to, figures 2 - 7 show the usage of the tool as a globe, figures 8 - 10 show the usage of the spherical calotte in fixed position, figures 1 1 - 15 show the usage of the spherical calotte with a cover lid, figures 16 - 19 show the usage of the unsteady spherical calotte.

We can have a look inside both spherical calottes 1 , the lining 6 is shown by the seams on the figure. The solution for the dismantling and rejoining of the spherical calottes I we can choose among known methods according to the possibilities defined by the material and the relevant production technology for example: a connection with bolt, bayonet joint, or locks provided with spring. The spherical calottes 1 can be made of synthetic rosin strengthened with fibre-glass, which is enough rigid even in case of thin wall thickness. The globe should advisable have a radius of 300 mm , and so its inside and outside well fits the body size of children. The cover lid 2 can be made of laminate, it does not necessarily have to be fixed, it might only have a border in order not to slip to the side. For everyday use it is generally practical if the lid fits the biggest diameter of the spherical calotte 1 , so that it has no border outside the surface of the spherical calotte 1 , therefore the diameter of the cover lid 2 has to be chosen accordingly. There are borings 5 on the cover lid 2 to install the bars to take hold in 4 , practically there are two borings 5 at one diameter of the cover lid 2 , symmetrically arranged with a distance of 320 mm from each other. The sticks to take hold in 4 can be made of wood, with a diameter of 30 - 40 mm to enable a comfortable grab, and their recommended length is 740 mm. Reasonably each spherical calotte 1 contains a cover lid 2 and two bars to take hold in 4 .

At least one of the spherical calottes 1 has sticks to take hold in 3 . It is recommended that the sticks to take hold in 3 should be installed at the two vertexcs of an equilateral triangle placed up side down on the diameter of the globe, the sticks to take hold in 3 should have a distance of 270 mm from each other, the distance of the third vertex of the equilateral triangle from the diameter oi^ the globe should be 75 mm. The sticks to take hold in 3 can be made of wood, with a diameter of 30 - 40 mm to enable a comfortable grab, their recommended length should be 150 mm, their most simple removable installation could be made with a boring drilled in the spherical calotte 1. The sticks to take hold in 3 could serve as the feet of the globe as well beside their function to lean against them, or to take hold in them. Further they can also „ impersonate „ the globe : the sticks to take hold in 3 are the two eyes and the nose, the mouth is the diameter of the globe, where it is divided. In order to underline the above visual effect we can also paint the globe accordingly.

The usage of the tool according to this invention put together as a globe as per figure 2 - 7 is very effective in developing the equipoise. As it is more rigid and harder than the plastic ball with the same function, it gives more stability and security for timid children at the beginning of the exercises. On figures 4 and 7 You can also see the usage of the sticks, the mussel loosening and stretching poise according to figure 7, when a light moving and swinging of the globe is also possible, was earlier not possible in any other way. The figures 8 - 10 show the stabile position of a spherical calotte and so can be used as a climbing tool or as a stool with or without sticks to take hold in.

With a spherical calotte combined with a lid according to figures 1 1 - 15 You can create a poise of equilibrium similar to the one you can create with the well known tool of the turning disc ( also used in the sensor integrated therapy ). But the tool according to this invention puts the centre of gravity higher, and so, due to a bigger swing it is a greater challenge for the child, it requires increased skilfulness, a higher level co-ordination of movement. The usage of the handle (stick to take hold in) as per figure 15 shows a different, new exercise of equilibrium.

With the help of the invention as per figures 16 - 19 (illustrated with a lying, sitting, kneeing, standing child) the unstable positioned spherical calotte, half globe You can practice not only the swinging, balancing poise, but also You can create such a new, turning motion, for the lying, or sitting child, which is not only a turning motion within a plane, but at the same time enables also a spatial turning on the surface of the globe. With the help of the currently known devices such motion is impossible. This new motion enables the child to realise, that by changing the position of it's body, moving the centre of gravity it can change the spatial position of if s body, and at the same time it can change the direction of the motion and the speed of the turning also. Beside all the above possibilities the new motion gives a certain feeling of security, as compared to the body the spherical calotte does not make any relative movement, but moves together with the body. The reason for this is, that the axis of the turning is a straight line crossing the common centre, and this line is always perpendicular to the soil, and it's position is changing according to the changes of the centre of gravity.

In order to direct the attention to the further possibilities of usage of the invention we also note, that the spherical calotte with if s opening upwards can be suspended on two, or more points, or it can also swim on the surface of the water.

The motion and co-ordination developing tool according to this invention, the globe with it's spare parts, which can be dismantled or rejoined is a new skilfulness and ability developing tool. It's general usage enables the continuous stimulation of the equilibrium perceiving organ with external help or by the child's own direction. This is most important because beside developing the motion co-ordination it also gives a continuous stimulation to the brain and so creates such an increase in the level of sensation that gives an increase also to the cognitive receptivity. This possibility can serve not only for the handicapped children-, but can also help the developing of skilfulness and abilities of healthy children from babyhood until the age of schoolchildren.

The different, possible variants of this invention summarise the features of earlier used skilfulness and ability developing tools, and moreover it gives a possibility to create unknown motion formations.

Further the invention is also an exciting toy even for grownups due to if s low space and tool requirements, and because it can serve multifunction.

We can advise the use of the tool at all kinds of institutions, where people work with children, with thick children, or with any kind o motion co-ordination, therefore it can be used at infant's nurseries, at nurseries, at children's wards of hospitals, within the properties of hygienical gymnasts, and also at home.
