The cushion comprises a padded core (2) and a cover (3) that is closed by means of a zipper or other conventional means in order to maintain the padded core (2) inside it. It also comprises one or more pairs of buttons (5) face to face, the buttons of each pair being on the outside of the larger surfaces of the cushion, said two buttons being connected in order to press the area where the buttons are located and to define the corresponding recess on each one of the two larger surfaces of the cushion. The connection of both buttons (5) is carried out as of a string (7) transversal to the padded core (2), this string having in its ends a fastening element (6) for the respective button (5) each fastening element (6) being located on the outside surface of the padded core (2), for the purpose of permitting snapping, and/or liberation, by pulling, of the button (5) for which purpose the button has on its inside part an element (8) complementary to the fastening element (6). The buttoning-unbuttoning means of the buttons (5) permit the release of the cover (3) from the padded core (2), without the need to handle in any way the strip (7), nor the fastening elements (6).

An article of furniture and method for assembling the same are disclosed for use wherein a membrane is supported between two opposing frame members. The membrane (22) is attached to the side frame (30) by a first set of fasteners (46). Thereafter an elongated strap (48) and an elongated web (52,54) are attached to the side frame overlying the edge of the membrane (22). The first (56) and second (58) halves of a slide fastener are attached to the longitudinal edges of the web (52,54) and are selectively interengaged to enclose the fasteners and conceal the same from view. Alternatively, an upholstery pad (70) can be attached to the article of furniture such that it overlies the membrane (22). A second elongated web (78) is attached to the underside of the pad (70) such that the web is spaced inward from the outboard edge of the pad. The second half of the slide fastener (84) is attached to this second elongated web (78) and is selectively interengaged with the first half of the slide fastener (56) which is fixedly attached to the side frame (30). The outboard edge of the upholstery pad extends outwardly such that it covers the fasteners and conceals them from view. In another embodiment, the membrane (22) and a first half of the slide fastener (56) are attached by fasteners to the opposing frame members (30). A fabric strip (106) is attached to the membrane (22) to conceal the fasteners. A second half of a slide fastener (58) is fixedly attached to an upholstery pad (70). The first and second halves of the slide fastener (56,58) engage to attach the upholstery pad (70) to the chair and to conceal the fasteners from view. In yet another embodiment, the membrane (22) is attached to the opposing frame members (30) by fasteners. An elongated strip (100) is mounted to the support member (30) such that a portion selectively overlies the fasteners. The elongated strip (100) is preferably mounted in a groove (94) adjacent the edge of the membrane (22).

59 Tool for Securing Together Two or More Layers of a Mattress Using a Plastic Fastener US11665779 2005-12-01 US20080289113A1 2008-11-27 William G. Berrocal; John Godfrey
A method for coupling together at least two layers of a mattress includes the steps of aligning each layer in its proper position in relation to the other layers of the mattress and, after the alignment step, inserting a plastic fastener through the layers. A fastener dispensing tool is provided for inserting plastic fasteners through the layers of the mattress. In one embodiment, the fastener dispensing tool includes a housing, a hollow sharpened needle fixedly coupled to the housing, an ejection mechanism for advancing a cross-bar of the plastic fastener through the hollow needle, a needle guard slidably coupled to the housing over a portion of the sharpened needle, and a needle guard stop slidably coupled to the housing in such a manner so that it can be releasably fixed place in either of two or more set positions. In use, the needle guard is adapted for slidable displacement between an extended position in which the sharpened tip of the needle is substantially protected by the needle guard and a retracted position in which a portion of the sharpened needle is exposed. When in its retracted position, the needle guard contacts the needle guard stop so as to limit further retraction of the needle guard. In this capacity, the position selected for the needle guard stop determines the portion of the hollow needle that is available for insertion through the layers of the mattress.
