The pinions (28-31) mesh with a stationary gear (33) coaxial with the pivot axis (34) of the post (32). The panel 3 may be raised and lowered by a winch 6 and a cable 7 operated by a crank or electric motor. The panel 3 may have secured thereto a pneumatic overlay mattress which may be inflated and deflated automatically on lowering and raising the panel 3 by a pump controlled by the motor.
